Aw Jeanie I feel your pain! Alas, I've no idea how to sort the problem.

I started my socks and it was going oh-so-well ... until somewhere along the line I lost a stitch. I can't see any holes where I dropped one and I don't think I knitted 2 together. So I was thinking of unpicking it stitch by stitch until I get back to where it was ok - would that be the best thing?

Firstly, I'm not sure if the quote thing is going to work right as it's my first time trying that, so apologies if it doesn't.

NualaBuala, thanks for this, I think you're right, go the slowly but surely route....

Your quote worked!:j Was just wondering if you got your knitting sorted Hope you get back on track soon ... I ended up ripping back and will start again cos I hadn't done much.

I did a bit of googling and apparently unpicking stitch by stitch is called Tinking (tink = knit spelt backwards). I thought that was quite cute! :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

On Ravelry they say "frogging". I dont know why and it caused confusion for me at first :) It's cold here today and I'm getting gradually more and more in the mood to start knitting for winter..

Frogging ... hmm, not sure that sounds nice to me. It's really chilly here this morning too ... good knitting weather. :)

Frogging and tinking are two different things.

Frogging = ripping back whole rows and 'rip it' sounds like a frog croak.

Tink = carefully unknitting stitch by stitch or 'knit' backwards.

HTH (hope that helps! ;) )

:rotfl: And once again mardatha gets the prize for giving me my morning chuckle!

Aha ... am a bit slow on the uptake - now I get the frogging thing. Very good!

I tinked back three rows this morning as I thought I'd made a mistake, well I hadn't so I had to re-knit what I'd already done!! Never mind. I'm currently working on a cardigan for my cousin's impending baby :D when that's done I imagine I'll be starting on my knitted gifts for the big C as both my mum and MiL want shawls so they'll take an age to do...they'd better appreciate them!!

We have mass granny burn-out !

That sums it up hunny, I feel burnt out! Dh was supposed to go on a disabled fishing trip yesterday but stayed home with me cos I wasn't myself. Im off to a craft group today at the local library if I can muster the enthusiasm but I imagine ( not being bigheaded) that I am way beyond their level, as I have had my own craft business's off and on over the years, but it will be a chance to hopefully meet some nice interesting people who can actually form a sentence - am spending too much time with my grandson lol

I am sure it would be nice to go to a craft group just to meet people even if you're at a higher level than them. I can't go to my local knitting group as it's on an evening where I'm already doing something else but I know they accept people who are beginners as well as who are advanced as it's good to share skills and enjoy the company.
