It was all going so well!

What I think happened was...I went to make a cup of tea leaving half a row unfinished, then I got back and did the classic of not finishing the row I was knitting but knitting back on myself i.e. finishing the next row. In my defence, if I may, because you kind of knit in sections in entrelac a row takes a long time to complete, I know usually the thing to do is complete a row when you leave your knitting.

    Could anyone help?
    1. Any tips/tricks for taking the work back? Whenever I've previously tried this I end up losing stitches all over the place and ultimately unravelling the whole thing. But I was going so well and had so much done, I can't bear to lose all that work.
    2. Any tips/tricks for making sure next time I realise which direction I'm meant to be going to stop me making the same mistake again?

Aw Jeanie I feel your pain! Alas, I've no idea how to sort the problem.

I started my socks and it was going oh-so-well ... until somewhere along the line I lost a stitch. I can't see any holes where I dropped one and I don't think I knitted 2 together. So I was thinking of unpicking it stitch by stitch until I get back to where it was ok - would that be the best thing?
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

Thanks mardatha - there was a a dropped stitch. I hadn't knit much so ended up ripping it up and starting again - I had gone wrong a few rows back and the rib had then gone wrong ... so important lesson learnt; don't knit when tired and don't try to multitask when knitting! :o

I used to be able to read & knit, or watch telly & knit. But since I got ME, I can only do one thing at a time. Is dead weird . I even have to stop talking when I'm doing anything or it all goes to hell. LOL !

Oh I feel better about it now, ta Mardatha. :) I got a bit complacent ... not an easy thing to do when you're got what feels like a million DPNs almost stabbing you.:rotfl:

I have been knitting Dgs a cardigan and its in blocks of g st and fishermans rib - I don't know how many times I have had to pull it back a couple of rows:eek: cos Ive done the wrong row. Its driving me mad but I think Ive finally got it! I think entrelac would leave me dribbling in a corner, though I do remember doing a baby cardi in it years ago.It looks so good when its done but I think my head is no longer capable of complicated stuff now :)
