Congratulations Plumduff!
Re: entrelac - it's actually pretty easy once you've "clicked" with having to pick up the stitches. Other than that, it's stocking stitch with a few p2tog, m1, ssk which makes the knitting slant. I was surprised how quickly I got comfortable with it, though as I said before, I have the odd lapse of concentration which leaves me with less stitches than I should have!
(Slightly off topic, but managed to sew up some more of the quilt last night and I'm really quite pleased with how it's turning out. I think I saw a patchwork quilt thread on OS so I might try and post a photo when I'm done.)0 -
Am such an eejit. I ordered the 2.5mm dpns from Ebay and then found I'd already bought some ages ago.
I hope the shop in town will take the original ones back without a receipt - but I'm not sure what to swap them for. They don't have a great wool selection so I guess exchanging them for other needles would be best.
Apart from the thin sock yarn, are their other weights of yarn that are good for socks - chunkier ones maybe? I could exchange my needles for bigger ones then.
Also, I got 2 x 400g balls of acrylic aran weight yarn from Aldi earlier this year. I'm using some of it to knit a old-fashioned stripey teacosy complete with pompoms. But I will have TONNES left - any suggestions what to make? I was thinking perhaps an easy pair of fingerless gloves/handwarmer/mitten type things as my hands get so cold when on the computer in winter. And then there will be still loads left!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

I have been looking on ravelry and found some easy shrug type cardi's more like bodywarmer which I am going to do with 2 big balls of aran, they are basically 3 oblongs with a bit of rib on the yoke and look quite easy. Im a slow knitter so needs to be simple. They are on big needles so grow quick too, might be good for huddling over the pc in!
ps congrats plum duff, Im making toys ofr my grandson at the mo but I usually crochet them as Im much faster at that - making balls to play with and little crochet houses that I designed, also you could do cubes inlots of colours - very MSEClearing the junk to travel light

Another slow knitter here - not only that but sometimes my knitting gets put away for months on end. The bodywarmer sounds like a good idea - would help me keep the heating off longer! Thanks for the suggestion ginnyknit. I really must check out Ravelry but I spend too much time online as it is and don't want another site to get addicted to!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Haven't got the link but just search Ravelry and then use their search box for whatever pattern you are looking for, lots of them are free and there are any number of categorys to choose from. You can also save patterns in your own library on there to print at a later date - enjoy!Clearing the junk to travel light

Well I've just had a good browse at the Shrugs.
Couldn't find a simple one on 2 needles though. Lots are on circular needles, or a complicated pattern.
Think I need to keep looking.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

I wonder if anyone can help.
I'm currently knitting this pattern
http://www.knitandsew.co.uk/Sirdar_Luxury_soft_cotton_DK_pattern_8888.htm
and have come across a problem. At this point I have 43 sts.
Row 1 K2tog, k1, *yfwd, yrn, p2tog, k1, rep from * to last 4 sts, yfwd, yrn, p2tog, k2tog [41] sts (yes)
Row 2 P1, *yrn, p2tog, p1, rep from * to last 4 sts, yrn, (p2tog) twice [40] sts (yes)
Row 3 P2tog, p1, k1, *yfwd, yrn, p2tog, k1, rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, p2tog [38] sts (yes)
Row 4 P3, *yrn, p2tog, p1, rep from * to last 2 sts, p2tog [37] sts (yes)
The next row is where my problem lies
Row 5 K2tog, *yfwd, yrn, p2tog, k1, rep from * to last 2 sts, p2 [36] sts (no 35)
I have repeated this row about three times and I still only get 35 sts. Can anyone work out whether it's me or the pattern that's wrong and how I can add an extra stitch in if I need to.
If it helps, Row 6 is P3, *yrn, p2tog, p1, rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, p2tog [35] sts.

Hi Lynseydee,
Sorry to butt in, I've been lurking as I tend to sew in summer and knit in winter.
As long as you are starting this row with 37 stitches the pattern will give you 36 at the end. The only change is the first k2tog
So, k2 together -1
All the yrn, p2 together and k1s 0 change
P2 0 change
At a guess, you're either missing a yrn or reading the last bit as p2tog?
Have another go and let us know how you get on!
