Hi there! Long-time lurker coming out of hiding to ask can I join in?
I'm a fairly young (28) knitter, just spent the past 2 years hand-piecing a patchwork quilt for myself (material not knitting). Amazingly I kept with it and now am just sewing up which means I've been looking for what to do next. Reading through this thread reminded me how much I enjoyed knitting so I'm looking to apply myself to that once again.
I'm coming from the traditional "grab some cheap wool and knit a scarf" direction, but I also had a weakness for buying books of patterns (before I discovered you could get free ones via the internet!) for actual clothing. I'm looking to move into more complicated stuff once I'm back in the swing and hoping you lovely ladies might be willing to provide a bit of help when I get stuck.
I'm currently knitting a scarf/shawl thing for when I'm reading in bed (had my little heater on far too much last winter) which is entrelac, I believe? Looks like strips of knitting crossed over each other. Despite a couple of false starts I've really clicked with picking up stitches and I'm racing along with it now. Admittedly I do come across the odd section where I'm either missing a stitch or I've got one too many, but I seem to have fudged solutions without too many problems!
So, hi everyone!0 -
Hi JeanieGY  Wow - I just had to look up entrelac and it looks so fancy and complicated! I'm just at the very basic level but I hope I'll keep learning. Bet your quilt is gorgeous too!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Hi Jeanie, entrelac is one of things that I always wanted to try sometime
what puts me off is that it seems to be only scarves & shawls that it's used for. Although I did once save a pattern for entrelac socks - not tried them yet though, that might push my patience too far !

Hi everyone, I'm happy to say that my little grandson arrived yesterday and he's absolutely gorgeous - I know I'm biased !!!
I took the lined basket filled with hand knitted cardis, hats, boots etc to the hospital today and DS and DDIL were delighted, so it was well worth all the work.
I am having a break from baby knitting at the moment and have started a second crofter cardigan for myself. When finished I will knit some more baby things for xmas.
Happy knitting.Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)
