The Knitters Thread

Hi everyone, I went to the Hobbycraft exhibition in Glasgow last weekend. I bought two lots of bargain wool but was a bit dissapointed in the knitting stands. No new great ideas just wool for sale.
During the week I actually finished sewing up a cardigan I knitted for myself. It has taken me more than a month to knit the button bands and sew the cardi together because I hate both jobs !!! The finished cardi was well worth it.
I found a pattern in an old magazine for a lacy, curly edged scarf knitted in Patons spritz yarn (an aran weight with lurex thread through it). I bought the wool on ebay for £3 (inc postage) and it arrived yesterday, looks really good, I'm going to knit this next before I start the little xmas stockings.

Only a month to do bands and sewing up - I call that a major achievement! Three of the worst tasks in knitting (sewing up, bands and buttonholes) and you buckled down to all 3! Congratulations and good luck with the scarf!0

I've gone for it, and taken my time. Nearly there now.
Does anyone have instructions on how to upload a picci, think I may be ready to reveal by Saturday evening!! Oh he is lovely
You need to use an image hosting thingy..such as photobucket....and then you insert one of the code jobbies.....(all technical terms).
I'm sure someone with more detailed instructions will along soon.
I'm still waiting for my pattern book to arrive..Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

Stressedoutmum - thank you so much for the link to the Jean Greenhowe website - as well as the free patterns, there were a few happy memories triggered by the pattern books page! DS1 had the scarecrow and DD the blue and white doll in Traditional Favourites!
My grandmother and mother used to buy Women's Weekly which always featured the patterns, and I have a few of the booklets tucked away upstairs. I may go and dig them out, and start making up some more.
This thread has nudged me into starting knitting again, and in the last two days I have knitted half the sleeve to the jumper I abandoned last winter - I may finish it this time! I nipped into the wool shop this morning, and am very inspired by all the patterns and the gorgeous yarns there are at the moment. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Did anyone see the article in the Daily Mail last week about the dolls from the book Knitted Icons? I have ordered the book via a seller on Amazon, my daughter (aged 26) has requested an Audrey Hepburn doll knitting for Christmas. Book was due Thursday or Friday and hasn't arrived yet, can't wait to get started, but love the piccies of Santa, they are great0

I've got a couple of Jean Greenhowe books myself but have never got around to making any of them so far. Really do need to get out the needles and get clicking!
Hadn't heard about the Knitted Icons - thanks for that. I'll have a look around and see if I can find that. sounds great.0 -
