    Good idea.
Might be a way of using up the sleeves of jumpers that have worn out everywhere else. Often happens, I get perfectly good arms and sleeves but the rest of a jumper has either gone 'bobbly' or a bit on the worn side. Might try that if I haven't already thrown my worn jumpers out.

Can you still buy leg warmers ? They were all the rage a while ago - I had some, then I think the whole trend seemed to die down and not sure I've got any left tucked away upstairs.

    hi,
my 3 year old has seen me knitting and has asked me to make him a nice warm knitted jumper. My knitting skills are very basic, I know how to do a row of K,P,K,P and can knit rows and rows of plain knit. I have searched online and im not coming up with anything, i found something that was made in onc piece, but this didnt have cuffs. Any links or suggestions would be most appreciated. He is impressed with his blanket I made him!

    Many Thanks

Orkney Star - if you join this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=800677 lyou'll find plenty of charities and patterns to send knitted items. The thread has been running since March and already we have made hundreds of things for preemies and other good causes. It would be great if you could join us. Many of our items are sent to www.lovinghands.org.uk who distribute them to various charities both here and overseas. You'll find links to lots of patterns to download on there, too. We have a Yahoo group called the Wooligans (the link should be in the first post) where we post photos of the things we have made. We also knit for PreemiesUK. There is a lot of information in the first post and I also regularly update our running totals in the first post and also on the current page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on there and someone is always around to help.

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your extra hour....I am spending mine knitting. I am new to it, and am making a cardigan in Stocking Stitch. The pattern for the left front section says I need to "work 9 rows decreasing one stitch at front edge row only in row 9" - does this mean that I need to decrease one stitch at the beginning of the row, or at the end?Your help will be much appreciated!!

  • Hi there! If you're decreasing in a knit row (that's usual ;) ) it will be at the end of the row.

The front edge is the edge that the buttons will go on the cardigan. So when you start row 9 if you are at the button/buttonhole edge you decrease at the start of the row, but if you finish row 9 at the button/buttonhole edge, then you decrease at the end. (By my calculation this should actually be at the end of the row). Hope that makes sense.

    As Dee said,

One edge will be for the buttonhole/band and the other will be the armhole edge, so you need to decrease 1 st where the buttons go.
