I was given some cotton and remembered my Grandma knitting dishcloths ---- so much to everyones amusement I have knitted my first dishcloth and it is brilliant. 100% cotton so will boil to keep it healthy and it should last forever

    Hi Chalky,
You've just reminded me that I have some beige coloured cotton upstairs, I am sure there are a couple of balls up there. Someone gave them to me ages ago. I'll have to go fish em out and have a go.

  • You're not alone chalky ;) Several OSers have knitted dishcloths for themselves and others. I'll add this thread to the current knitting one, where you can find websites with designs, and photos of people's cloths.

Hi Janey - I've just found this. http://www.needlepointers.com/ShowArticles.aspx?NavID=937If you scroll down the page it gives info about substituting different yarns for Patons, Lion and Lily. Some of the big name brands are so expensive now but there are some very good budget ranges around.

There's some useful info and advice here, too http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/FEATwin03TBP.html

    and here http://knitting.about.com/od/knittingskills/a/substitute_yarn.htm

You are wonderful :j Thanks so much.

    Hello chalky 75

I'll move your thread to the 'Old Style' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
