Yep, I thought that under DSR you were fine to return within 7 days with the only liability being for any calls you've already made?

Dammit 3, just when I think I'm finally through with you, you draw me back in!

Well asked for my PAC last month and the rep couldn't give a t*ss about keeping me as I only use up half my 700 mins allowance and I'm not a 'worthy' customer. Got my PAC within two mins which was the shortest conversation I've ever had with a retentions rep. So I was all ready to say goodbye and only phoned up today to ask how long it would take to transfer my no. to a new network. I had one last try and asked whether they had a sim only deal as I wasn't bothered about a new phone and whether they had any loyalty offers. The rep offered me the 'flexible' 12 month tariff of 900 mins/text, 5,000 three to three calls and 2G data for 10 quid a month. I was happy with that as it's 2.50 cheaper than my current deal and the first rep wouldn't even offer me that.

Agreed to that deal, then 3 mins later I got a call from the same rep saying she had some 'good news' for me. I was quite nervous at this point but she said she had spoken to her manager and I could now have the above deal for 7 quid. Yay! I like to think this is a genuine deal but I don't think I'll believe it until I see the paperwork and the direct debit. I don't quite trust them.

For all those getting no joy I say keep at it, request your pac on your penultimate month. If you don't get what you want leave it again to your last week. I think they keep a log of calls so if you keep continually ringing up they think you're desperate . Approach it like a second date :-)

I gave my months notice last week and got my first offer today. Told them i wanted to keep my £10 loyalty discount and for £15 a month want the text 500 plan with HTC desire (currently £25). He said could do wildfire for £16 a month or for £8 a month get 500 mix and match, 300 mins 3 to 3 and 500gb allowance and free candybar sony ericsson featuring 2 MP camera. Told him politely but firmly that didn't suit my needs and no thank you. He said he'd speak to his boss and see what they could come up with. Seems promising so far.......
Hadn't heard anything else with 2 weeks to go so i phoned up to get my PAC code, the guy on the phone spoke really good english for a change and said he could give me the £15 pound deal on the desire.

He said what do i want so i said 300 minutes, 500 texts and 1gb internet. He said he could do that then said if i went to £20 he would give me 2000 minutes, 5000 3-to-3 5000 texts and unlimited internet.

I said no thanks i'll stick to the £15 offer - then he said OK and....

    I'd get (for £15 a month)

    New HTC Desire
    900 x-minutes
    5000 texts
    2000 3-to-3 minutes
    3 GB data allowance.

    Result!!!

Fantastic deal, well done! I have a contract which runs out in April so I'll give them a call at the weekend to see what they can do.

Be really careful. I got offered this deal though for £11 (retaining my iphone). It was literally £1 more than I used to spend, but I got LOADS more minutes and messages (900mins 5000 txts etc etc). I was chuffed - like you.

Then checking my balance and I ended up paying £26.56! I called to check why and had to explain the deal I was offered. Then go through it all. I was due a call back from the original lady that sold me the deal...she didn't call. I was also told the customer relations chap would also call me back to check the sales girl did....he didn't.

So tonight, I called them back and literally had to argue my point. They said the first sales girl called me (no sign of missed call on my phone though, so I'm not surprised...she's probably lying...again!). I explained why would I accept the deal they offered me if it was £25.56 when the "one plan" offers even more for your money at just £25? It was only then that the woman started to see my point. (Evn though she said that was discontinued now - this made me furious as it was certainly available at the time!).

So the next thing they say is they will honour my £11 from next month. I said iot wasn't good enough and they had to refund me the money I was mislead as well. She spoke to her manager (just as well as otherwise I was about to) and they have apparently resolved it. We'll wait and see...

I posted my deal on this thread a while back - scroll a few pages back to see if you like. Sounds similar to yours. Hopefully you won't have the same hiccup.

I called today to request my PAC code, the sales rep asked which network i was moving to, i mentioned the Tesco iPhone deal. (£25/month, £342 for the iPhone) and after 'talking to her manger' the sales rep offered me the same deal.
  • Rang this morning to get my pac code as my contract ends in less than a month now. I told the retentions guy that I wanted a HD Desire HD and had seen a great deal with Orange from mobiles.co.uk.
He then offered me a deal of £25 a month on a 24 month contract with 500min mix and match and 500gb or sim only deal with 2GB, 500 min for £8.
I said no, I could get a a better deal elsewhere. He then tried offering me an Iphone for £30 a month and also asked if the HD desire I was getting would be from China (?!)
Pretty much the end of the conversation, with him then texting me my PAC code. I hope I get a call back with a better offer than that! The thing is, they had been ringing me with 'great offers' last month and I 'd said I needed to do my research first before I'd commit. I thought they'd have better offers nearer the end of my contract, with the threat of me leaving.
Oh well, will post again if I get a better offer from them.

  • I'm into the last month of my contract, and I'm wondering if they call you or if you have to call them. Also if they do call then roughly how many days before the end is the average, and do you have any great tips?
