3 Retention Deals

Accepting a retention deal from 3 is like being kidnapped & released by the Taliban, and then saying, 'well, I might as well stay another year...'0

Just had a call from the retention department of 3 offering me a fantastic deal (insert sarcasm), a mix and match 300 for just under £10 a month and some new handset. It seems that they just don't listen to what the customer actually wants - I explained that the mix and match 300 was no good for me as I am expecting to use more than 300 text messages a month so ideally wanted something with unlimited text messages. I then get offered a sim only deal with unlimited text messages and 100 mins for just under £10 a month (same deal as anyone can get on the website).
I actually told them that I would be happy if they could do me some sort of deal with the mix and match 700 or higher with internet added and keeping my current phone but they just refused.
That call from 3 was 30 mins of my life that I won't get back!0 -

The problem with 3 is that they read from a script, btw, the deal they offered was very poor in my opinion.0 -
What stage are you in the retention process? have you given 30 days notice to terminate your contract yet?

I have given my 30 days notice to cancel and have called them up to make sure that the new handset had been returned, and that they were indeed cancelling the contract. The contract runs out on the 14th August so will call them at the end of the month to get them to unlock my mobile but don't really want to waste my time with them any more as reading what has happened to others they could offer me the best deal in the world and then deny it.0 -

I recently upgraded on 3 and they offered the following:-
Mix & Match 1100
Free Sony Ericsson C510
£16 per month - 18 months contract
£200 Comet Voucher
I had to serve notice and then the day before it was due to expire, they rang to offer this.
They wouldnt negotiate at all on any of the above- but it's actually not too bad an offer I dont think.
The voucher hasnt arrived yet, but they did say it would be 30 days before that arrives.0 -
Hey just checking can someone confirm that if i serve my 30 days notice i CAN cancel at any point very near if I don't get any offers or the offer I need, as i don't actually want to cancel the account?
Thanks0 -

yes you can, you're giving 30 days notice, however you can change your mind, 3 will also confirm this.0
