I think I just got a fair deal, not brilliant but not too bad either.

A Sony Ericcson W595, 700 M and M + 300 3 to 3 minutes on an 18 month contract for £16.50 a month. After 40 minutes on the phone though I was getting rather cross as they just kept giving me rubbish deals but telling me I was such a valued customer I could have a special deal.

I actually began to feel I was buying something dodgy in a foreign casbah with all the 'so good a customer we do specials for you madams'.

It was what I wanted though so I shouldn't really moan.

This is what I don't get about Three. You're both on the same deal at the moment. I suppose one of you may incur higher data charges each month than the other one, therefore spending more each month, and ultimately making three more money so they can offer you a better deal - but I doubt it. And since you're on here and pretty clued up, you'd probably have one of their add-ons for that if you needed it.

With other companies, there seems to be some semblance of logic to upgrade offers. When I was with Vodafone, the guy explained to me what their offer was and why, based on the phone I was choosing and my average monthly use, and it made sense. With Three it seems to be based on the mood of the person on the other end of the line, or the direction in which the wind is blowing. And while I know that they will offer whatever, and we can accept it or go elsewhere, it seems odd that Three seem uninterested in keeping us... they should be trying doubly hard given the stick they get.

Oh well, I await with baited breath the little button on my My3 page in a week or so's time!

I have to say that is the main reason Ive taken my custom elsewhere. It is so galling to see that customers with only a year under their belt for example, are getting deals far better than those of us who had been with 3 for years. I have no idea how they decide who gets a good deal and who doesn't, and noone at 3 seemed able to enlighten me. The guy in the 3 store actually told me he was amazed they werent giving me a good deal on looking at my records! I paid £21 pm basic, and always went over with my texts which added another £5-10 pm, and also for at least two of the 5 plus years I was with them, I had two contracts (one for daughter), so I cant see that they werent getting money out of me. I also only ever had middle of the range phones. In spite of this, I was only ever offered the same as on the website, even when I gave notice.

Having renewed 2 contracts (m+m1100) at £15, I rang in to check it had been applied to both accounts (as I always do) and found it hadn't been applied - so kicked up a polite fuss and both accounts now pay £12.99 per month.

Have checked and it is being applied :D

These were 18 mth accounts up in Sept.

You're better off elsewhere, clearly - as someone renewing my contract with them for the first time, who knows what'll happen. Its all rather exciting, isn't it?!? Like a wierd blind date or something...

I was actually amazed at the discount (£13.25/month on MM1100) because for the past 6 months or so my usage has averaged only around 400 units/month, I never ever go over my allowance, so they really aren't making much profit from me, except of course for the fact that I'm paying for something I don't use!!!!!

I went to check out the phones they'd offered (INQ1 and Nokia 6120) not particularly impressed by either so still undecided what to do!!! To complicate things further I had a look at their pay as you go deals and since my monthly usage has decreased so much I am tempted by one of those instead (still happy with my current phone).

Proves my point - Just hope its a nice day in Delhi when I phone. As a matter of fact, I'm going there about two weeks after I am due to upgrade - I'll tell the operator if they give me a good deal I'll bring them something nice!
