    Just in case this helps anyone. I have 2 months of my contract left. Currently on direct VTT500 which is;

    300 mins
    150 texts
    25 MMS messages
    25 mins of video calling
£5 of spending on downloads through the Three browser

I am currently paying £5 a month for this (£20 loyalty discount). I phoned them yesterday about an upgrade. They offered me a free (new not refurbished) Nokia E71, keeping the same tariff albeit on an 18 month contract. They would not budge on keeping the discount and moving onto another tariff.
For background, I am not a big spender and rarely go over my allowance. I do however have the £5 per month internet add on.
Can't complain really, although a few 3 to 3 mins would be good - I am so greedy....

In the end, i ended up sending back the SE C510 to pursue this social experiment. I'd love it if they would offer me this! Thanks Bantamfan!

Has anyone tried to buy out of 3 contract ... I have 5 months left to run and having problems receiving texts - that is on top of poor signal! Just wondered how much they would charge (I currently pay £15/month for 75mins and ? 400 texts)
They'd just charge you your £15 x the 5 months left, but minus VAT I believe, as they're not actually providing the service for this time.

as above, they just charge up front the tariff for the rest of your contract.

I just rung them up to do this myself, with 4 months left on a mix match 1100. this would have cost just under 120, but they were so keen for me not to leave them that they offered to drop my tariff from M&M 1100 to M&M 700, which I accepted.

I was pretty happy with this tbh. don't know why they offered this as you're not supposed to be able to drop even one tariff level let alone two. I'm certainly not going to use the phone again.

so you may be able to get them to cut your tariff, which would be cheaper overall for you.

    Previously:
    18 months on Mix'n'Match 500 (£18), free Nokia 6120
+Broadband Lite Addon (£10) (allows use of phone as a modem)
    = total £28

I was debating various T-mobile contracts with auto-cashback which would have given me a reasonable phone, but would have cost £5/month extra to be allowed to use it as a modem; result would have been about £21/month.

    Accepted:
    18 months on Mix'n'Match 500 (£18), free Nokia N95 8Gb
    +Internet Max Addon (£5)
    =total £23

The adviser claims it's allowed to use the phone as a modem now with the internet max addon, and they don't offer the broadband lite addon any more. I'm hoping this is true! (I asked him several times, and have a recording of him telling me...)

I requested my PAC code from '3' just over 2 weeks ago and to stay with them was basically offered what any new customer would get.
A poor choice of mobiles and tariffs - nothing interesting!

    I'm currently on;-

    Mix & Match 300
    2000 3 to 3 mins
    Free Skype to Skype
    Free Skypephone S2
    6 month contract
    £15 a month

Today I got a little bit worried as '3' had not even called me with any enticing offers to stay a customer, and that my PAC code was due to expire in just under 2 weeks and I had not even ported the number over to a new network.

I decided to call '3' and give it one more go to see if I could get a better deal from them?

After being put through to a really pleasant and helpful Customer Service Lady and after a lot of bargaining and negotiation banter (for a N95 ;)), I was offered the following;-

    Mix & Match 500
    2000 3 to 3 mins
Free Brand New Nokia N95 8GB
    18 month contract
    £15 a month

Offer welcomed and accepted by me immediately!

Phone will arrive on Wednesday :D

What did you tell the customer services when you called them... as in why were you calling them again after asking for the PAC code???

the reason i am asking is that i am thinking of doing the same next month!!!
  • Same. What they offered me for the LG Renoir was just what they'd offer a new customer!

Just upgraded through the normal path (ie not through retentions). Was surprised not to get a call from 3, as my contract actually expired a month ago, obviously Vodafone and Orange knew as I've received calls from both of them recently, but they can't come close to the deal I'm currently on with 3 so they admitted defeat!

Anyway, I'm keeping my current deal of VTT700 (400 mins, 250 texts, 512mb internet) for £13 (I still have that nice £22 'loyalty' discount) - new 12 month contract and a Samsung S7330 (I wanted the Soul, but they only had those in pink). My Nokia N73 is 2 and a half years old now and getting long in the tooth, so the Samsung will do as a placeholder for a year until the decent iPhone clones start to appear - none of the current crop that 3 do appeal to me.

Currently on 500 mins and 100 texts for £21 per month. Was offered Sony Eriksson W595 on same plan to renew contract which expires in 4 weeks. Asked if they would do a deal on Nokia N96, was told I'm not important enough to 3 to be offered one of those phones so I asked for PAC code and received it immediately by text. Was surprised by how little effort was made to keep my contract.

Got contacted by 3 sales rep this afternoon, they have offered me a Nokia N95 on same contract. Not sure whether to accept or try and get the N96
