Just spent no less than 40 mins on the phone with a very persistent guy at the call centre who was adamant that requesting for a PAC code is not in my best interest. Having read about how asking for the PAC code may cause you to lose your loyalty, I kept asking WHY it's not in my best interest. The only reason he gave was that there is no better deal outside.
I'm current on the Talk and Text 600 (500mins, 100 txt) 12month contract, £24. I dont' really need a new phone but i was told they don't do any price plans without phones anymore.
Eventually he offered
Mix and Match 300
300 mins 3-to-3 calls
unlimited skype (standard stuff for Mix and Match)
Free Sony Ericsson C510
18month contract
£11.00
i've accepted this on the basis of their 14 day cooling-off period. Any thoughts on whether I should've pressed harder? Contract is meant to expire on 7th April, so i was late in giving notice already.0 -
I think the timing is when your new provider contacts them to transfer the number over, which could be a day or two down the line - so you're probably already too late sadly.
I picked up an Orange pay as you go sim yesterday just so I could port the number out of 3 and into the Orange network as I won't be able to get the new phone until next week sometime. When I called to register the sim (English call centre actually took me a little by surprise at first!) I explained to the guy about my PAC expiring and he said that the number was now already in the orange system & that it would take effect on my new account from wednesday.
I'm a little worried though, seeing that as of midnight last night I'm no longer a 3 customer shouldn't my phone have been cut off? I'm still getting full 3 signal, no message or anything to confirm that my account has been cancelled or anything. Do 3 tend to let their customers know when their time is up? I'm starting to get that feeling that the operators didn't close my account. Anyone who's successfuly cancelled a 3 contract please tell me I'm just being paranoid!0 -
Rarajess, thats a good price and you could sell the phone to pay for a few months of the deal. However, is 300 units enough? Thats only like 150 mins and 150 texts. Or 300 mins and no texts, when before you had 500/100.
I would have stayed with 3 if they had offered me what I wanted. I was on the same plan as you were for £10 a month (that was when they did deals without a new phone). I wanted more texts and made this clear to them, and thought they may offer me a free add on or something to stay, but they wanted to move me on a totally new plan. I was offered 200 mins/unlimited texts with a sony walkman, or mix and match 300 and an INQ1 phone, both were £15 a month. I ended up sending both deals back because with O2 simplicity I keep my phone, and can either get 150/300 for £10 a month, or 300/600 for £15 a month, minus £5 a month on my broadband deal as well.0 -
Well, got a call from 3 last night. I only asked for PAC on Thursday, and they were trying to call me on Satruday (didn't hear the call, was moving house and phone was hidden away) and then last night. For the same price as on the first call (£15pcm) they now offered me 700 min and 150 text (or similar) and Nokia 6500. It is probably not a bad deal, but I was going out for dinner (on the way to the restaurant in a car!!) and told them I am busy now, call me some other time.
So, that is when you loose your loyalty discount, you get an offer for 3x texts and minutes for the same price!
I am still thinking on taking one of the online deals with Orange with free PS3.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

What are you paying Now with Three? What Phone do you have & do you pay for Extra Calls monthly? Just for me to see what your current spend is compared to mine.
I have Mix&Match 600 currently (£25), but only use less than 300 minutes and about 70 texts. I have internet add on as well, and with occasional phone calls to 0845/0870, etc., texts abroad and travel abroad, I pay about £28, probably never reached £30. I have Sony Ericsson W660i.
I am not happy with 3 because of their reception. I am working in Lake District this week, and although I have full 5 bars, I can barely talk with my husband! I have vodafone for work phone and I have to use that to be able to understand what my husband is telling me!!!! My phone is fine, as I do get decent reception in certain areas, but that is rare occasion!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
I just thought I'd share this with everyone seeing as I've only just cancelled my 3 contract. There are some pretty good cash back deals to be had through Quidco this weekend. If you're tired of 3, it may be worth looking at an Orange contract as Quidco will pay £100 on every Orange contract phone this weekend up until Monday, then it goes back down to £60 I think. Also Vodafone are giving £150 on all £30+ tariffs at the moment.
I only mention it because I know so many people here are trying to get a good upgrade deal out of 3 at the moment. 3 offered me some crap upgrade deals which forced me to look elsewhere and now I'm very glad I did! Just want to help out those who are in the same boat I was in until 3 days ago!

Agreed della, never had a problem with 3 whilst on contract really but the current handset range and lack of customizable options they give with regard to upgrades lets them down. Still a decent service though.0

Just in case this helps anyone. I have 2 months of my contract left. Currently on direct VTT500 which is;
300 mins
150 texts
25 MMS messages
25 mins of video calling
£5 of spending on downloads through the Three browser
I am currently paying £5 a month for this (£20 loyalty discount). I phoned them yesterday about an upgrade. They offered me a free (new not refurbished) Nokia E71, keeping the same tariff albeit on an 18 month contract. They would not budge on keeping the discount and moving onto another tariff.
For background, I am not a big spender and rarely go over my allowance. I do however have the £5 per month internet add on.
Can't complain really, although a few 3 to 3 mins would be good - I am so greedy....0 -
