OS Daily, Wednesday 30th Jan 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone!

I had a massive mug of Horlicks at about 1.00am, and I still can't stay asleep. Ah well.

Today's the day for Haribo Junkie's op. Good luck HJ, hope you recover quickly.

There's nothing doing in my life right now, it has been that way for a long time, which I guess is good and definitely better than some of the sadness and madness which has infected some OSers lives.

Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful Wednesday.

Snowy

Morning SNOWY and all who post after us.

HARIBO - thinking of you today and wishing you the best of luck with the op.

Hope everyone is well but (((hugs))) to all who aren't and to all who just wants one.

I did a load of baking on Monday and it's nearly all gone. I'm going to have to make some more stuff and just leave out enough for a day at a time and freeze the rest. I thought I'd easily done a week's worth of cakes and biscuits!

Today's plan is to carry on with the 'great 'organise the paperwork once and for all' challenge. My filing cabinet has one drawer that is full of files that could be thinned out and the other drawer is full of stuff that has never been filed but should be. The last time I did that, I thought it would take a morning and it took a day and a half to do it properly, so I'm in for the long haul.

I finally extracted written promises from the two companies who should have paid DH for his work last Friday, that there is no reason he should not get paid this Friday. I have had to be really persistent and I don't think they'll ever forget us now! We've also been advised on a line we will add to the bottom of all our invoices-out about our expected payment terms. The fact he wasn't paid last week caused such a lot of inconvenience and loss of time but it did help to galvanise DH into some real action on reducing our overheads. We have found a much cheaper Public Liability policy and he's going to hunt around today for cheaper car insurance, as well. We're still waiting for Martin to give the go-ahead on switching energy suppliers but will do that as soon as he does.

Anyway, enough waffling from me -I'm off for a shower.

Hope everyone has a great day.
    See you later.

    Morning All

Snowy - hope you get some rest today it's horrible when you can't sleep

Got to work early today - for a change!!! Really tired as I had a night dreaming about arguing with the ex and his family. It's been months and still subconciously I'm not over being ripped off like I was.

Just two of us in the office today and we both finish at 1pm, as we're the early morning people, so I'd like to know how the place will run this afternoon:rotfl:

Off to see my friend for a cuppa after work - the one who's having marital problems. She still doesn't know what she's going to do. Sis has found the final Harry Potter book in the library, so will pick that up from her and start reading in bed - think I'm going to tuck in at 7pm this evening as I'm that whacked.

    Right daily clicks are calling

    Hope everyone's ok

JAYWARD hugs to you, I know what you mean about giving up nursing, it's a job that is part of you and so hard to give up.

Hugs to anyone else who needs them and HARIBO good luck with your op.

Have been awake since 5 as OH got up to go to London, means I can have a really good clean today after I've been to the farm shop. Also need to do some more studying, must try and get my head into a more positive frame of mind about it.

No idea about dinner yet, will have a look in a minute.

Have a good day all :A xxxx

    Fingers crossed for Haribo.
    Hugs for Snowy.
Scuzz I still dream about rowing with my ex, I think the nearer retirement looms, the more stressed I get about how I'll manage. He retired at 51 as he kept so much of out assets he no longer needed to work.
Thanks for the wave yesterday Annistar.
I'm not looking forward to the rain tomorrow, I don't mind it, but trying to get the lodger the 3 steps from the front door to the car in the rain will be a long job!
Off to work now, have a whacky Wednwesdat everyone.
    Hugs Hester

A bit like snowyland here, nothing really to report. Taking some new neighbours down the coast to see a bit they haven't found yet and having lunch (didn't get off yesterday). Blitz round this evening/tomorrow morning as we have friends for lunch (who haven't been here yet so will want the "tour" mmmm tidy up). WM done will have out in half an hour or so.

(((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) all round and keep the nurses laughing HJ. Mrs_M you about??

    Take care DG

    Morning everyone!

Up early as DS wet the bed again, bless him he does it every night and he's 6 so can't really do a lot about it. So bed changed him showered and dressed ready for school.

I'm seeing a friend today with her son, so that's a real treat as we don't get together often enough. Will have chicken sandwiches me thinks! Got housework to do trip to 2nd and shop with a large bag of bits! The declutter has started! Swimming for kids this afternoon then a quick pasta meal for dinner.

Hope you all have great days and good luck HJ for your op! xxx

    Morning

    Hope Haribo's op goes OK.

Mioliere, I am also waiting for Martin to give the nod about changing energy suppliers. We are still with British Gas for both, and have never changed :o Our last bill was £188 for gas which I thought was really high, but spoke to my sister who has changed suppliers, and hers was £230 for about the same usage

Work today, so sausage casserole in the slow cooker, and jacket potatoes. Something and salad for lunch. Had a bit of a light bulb moment yesterday, and realised I have about 7 months to lose 2.5 stones before DS wedding. Thought of joining Slimmers World, anyone tried it ?

Don't forget Martin is on Channel 5 tonight at 7.30 x

  • I’ve been chatting with Donny-gal and we’ve arranged to meet for lunch in Sheffield Meadowhall on Thursday 13 March.

It would be great to meet with some northern Old Stylers too

If you’d like to come, please PM me or Donny, and if there are enough of us, we’ll ask the BGs nicely, and see if we can have a separate thread for arrangements :D

    HJ – hugs for today

Aussie and Twink – please behave

Jockett – condolences and hugs for you and yours.

Have a great day, Penny. x
