I changed to pipex 15 months ago and have had nothing but problems with them. When I first joined I was told I only needed pipex mini home phone and broadband. Only after I agreed and left other bb supplier I was informed by them that as I had a post office homephone I couldnt get mini only broadband. it was easier to agree to that than to find another isp.The offer was 3 months free and then £6.50 a month which i thought was ok paying by direct debit. after 6 months it went up to £14.99 the same as pipex midi which is phone/broadband so i phoned them and was told that was the price for mini as well as i didnt have phone i was being charged £14.99 same as broadband.ag ain payments were by direct debit and continued until nov 2007 when i phoned and asked for migration no.They persueded me to stay with the offer of another 3 months free and then £9.99 a month after that.I checked my online invoices every month and because i never heard from them assumed everything was ok and they were taking my money out of bank every month. stupidly i never checked as I only get bank statements twice a year.Today I received an emails saying I owe £135 which they will take from my bank on 21/3.It now seems that they have never taken ANY MONEY AT ALL from my account. Can they do this??I have spoken to pipex at least 6 times over the last year and it has never been mentioned to me even when i spoke to billing in november to confirm i would stay with them. It seems I dont have this money in my account and until I can get to bank on tuesday to sort it out anyone got any ideas.??

I was with Pipex for over 7 years, now been taken over by Tiscali, phone numbers now 0871 at 10p a minute, keep you waiting ages,I had a problem with my old modem when I upgraded to Vista, they told me I needed a new modem at £60:00 from them,so I bought it,they then extended my contract by 12 months, took another monthly payment when I had already paid,I never used the modem,I sent it back recorded delivery, they have lost it,and to add insult to injury when I got so fed up and asked for my MAC code, they charged me without warning £128:00 from my bank account.PLEASE do not use these people, they are awful.Going to o2,so much better.

Pipex are useless, they rip you off,and ignore you,I have never know a more useless company, perhaps because Tiscali is involved, avoid at all costs.Trouble is these people 'upgrade' your line each time you do a deal, that means your contract is extended by 12 months, thats what that money is for, they are cheats, and need to be stopped.

  • I am in the process of migrating from pipex - should happen today :)
Last night I checked my statement for pipex and they have charged me a cancellation fee for migrating sad.gif
when I asked for my mac code I was told i was still in contract till Dec- I said there is no way that is true, as I've been with them nearly 2 years at this address. It came out cos I phoned them last Nov about the fact they were charging me £19.99 instead of £14.99 for midi, so I apparently started a new contract when they changed the prices. However as they hadn't made it clear OR written it on there records its was a new contract, they said they'd let it go . I did however cancel the DD straight away as I'd heard oh here. others who'd been charged cancellation fees
So I phoned them and spoke to a nice lady who said she has written off the cancellation fee AND written off the money I owed this month as they couldn't take it cos i canceled the DD. Can she do that? She did say that I will probably get a letter demanding the money.. I am so fed up of bloody pipex. They used to be such a good company, but no more.

Just a quick update,Pipex contacted me today by phone, apologised for all the bad service etc, will re-credit my card with the £128:00 they took out,and the money for the router I sent back which they lost,so,good on em for doing that, but I am still moving over to O2,a result after weeks of pulling my hair out.

I totally agree with you regards PIPEX. I contacted them 16 months ago to change from orange to PIPEX mini broadband and telephone[explained I didnt have a BT phoneline as i am on with the POST OFFICE] was assured this would be O>K> so changed over to them. I already had my own modem and security suite therefore saving myself some money so I thought. After the lst month I was informed by them via email that I couldnt have mini as I didnt have a BT landline doooh i already told them that. After a lengthy phone call after which I explained they said i could have mini broadband/phone they said I could have 3 free months and then £6.50 for 3 months. GREAT I THOUGHT. they then charged me for antivus at £5.88 which i have never had nor used. Then after 6 months I noticed [only after checking online statements] that I was being charged £14.99 a month. So again phoned them only to be told that as I was only getting pipex broadband going rate was £14.99 so said I would have to put up with it till november 2007 when contract ran out with them.Phoned in november for MAC CODE AND WAS OFFERED 3 FREE MONTHS AGAIN AND £9.99 a month for a year so agreed to that. I was trasferred to billing to confirm DD had'nt changed etc and thought no more about it. Only to get an email Sat 8/03 this year to say they were taking out over £135 from my bank account as they hadnt taken any money at all from me in the 15 months I have been with them.Contacted my bank who advised me to cancel DD and to write/contact them and ask what they are playing at. Wrote same day sat 8/3 still waiting and have emailed them twice this week attaching copy of my written letter and not heard ANYTHING. BUT NO DOUBT THEY will cut me off on 21/3 when this is due. any advice ???
