it looks like the original buyer who won it for £125 - £135 and then didnt want it changed their minds and decided they wanted it0

I agree.
When checking someone out if they have neg feedback I look at the person who left the neg feedback. It usually obvious if that person is just an a******e and the neg feedback means nothing.
Before leaving negative feedback for anyone always communicate with the other party to exhaust all other avenues. If you have left negative feedback which looks impulsive or unwarranted, people will be wary of dealing with you for obvious reasons.0 -
It seems that the original auction was won by 1218mattb in this auction for £129.80.
Apparently this buyer couldn't collect soon enough so a second chance offer was issued. I was the second highest bidder, I was third at £75. The second highest was at £127.80.
I took the second chance offer at £75 on a Buy it now in this auction. The time was 13-Jan-08 21:19:19 GMT.
Then in this auction it was bought for £127.80 in a Buy it now by brian5958 at 13-Jan-08 21:52:47 GMT.
I was collecting on the Friday, the 11th of January. I got a call the evening before stating that it had been stolen after I'd joined the RAC for relay cover, spent hours looking at vans to fit the conversion and at getting a recovery truck to take the whole van.
After negging him he's negged me back with "The vehicle was stolen no need for bad feedback thanks for being understanding!!"
So what should I do about it now?

Have run across a less than honest seller who has an apparent 98/99% rating. There is a website that sums up just the neutral/negative feedback and you can read the pattern. As others have said sometimes the feedback is something and nothing , but the seller I dealt with was (like yours) very abusive.I now check this site before buying anything. In the case of my seller he called me a liar.I contacted E Bay who withdrew the negative on me but let my comments on him stand.I am also very suspicious of a lot of 'mutual withdrawals'.
Don't know whether I'm allowed to name the website or not but it is mentioned on the E Bay forums0 -
I would leave a follow up to the neg saying
not stolen as seller stated sold to another buyer, this is a retaliatory neg from seller. Thanks for any help and advice given

The seller in this case is a sleaze-bag. That will be evident to experienced eBayers who check your FB. If you wish to make it clear to every eBayer though, then you need to respond to your neg as nickyt says.
I'm not sure what the maximum character count is for responses so here's a shorter response of 69 characters including spaces:
WHAT A CLOWN! Lying seller sold this "stolen" item on eBay on Jan 13 2008!
I'd leave it at that, and especially the 'clown' bit: sellers like that one get a real kick out of thinking they've upset or annoyed someone, but hate it when they're shown to be the morons they truly are.
Remember just two things:
(1) If you have to neg someone, make sure your neg is icy cool, or hilariously caustic; NEVER write a 'screaming' neg because:
(a) you'll actually make other eBayers think you're over-emotional, in which case they'll be better off keeping clear of you, and:
(b) you'll simply give the recipient of your neg cause for a laugh at your expense. And:
(2) It's only eBay. Not real life.

This made me smile

97.2% is still a good score. I would not worry about it affecting future sales, it would not put me off a buyer, and I think that it wouldn't many others either.vertical_fool wrote: »My feedback is now 97.2%. Although I could understand people looking at the feedback description and concluding the feedback is unfair. However some people will only get as far as 97.2% and look elsewhere hence losing me actual/ potential bids/sales.

As far as ebay are concerned, 97.2% is not enough to be a powerseller. If you saw somebody with 97.2% based on 30,000+ feedback, would you still consider that to be a good score??
It's that "subjectivity" issue that's rearing it's head again.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Oh no, don't go there stevew! What some Powersellers do to stop themselves breaking eBay's maximum negs received rule is the stuff of nightmares, everything from coercion to the issuing of phony Stat Decs.
Their FB is then littered with dozens, if not hundreds, of "feedback mutually withdrawn" entries, a state of affairs that serves as a clear warning to experienced eBayers but sadly doesn't register at all where inexperienced eBayers are concerned. They go ahead and buy and if it all goes pear-shaped, only then see the error of their ways.
Fortunately the OP here doesn't seem to want to be a PS.
Actually, after May, I don't see many eBayers wanting to be a PS anyway, because on the volume of sales achieved by a PS there's bound to be a percentage of obnoxious buyers, yet the PS won't be able to neg 'em back.0
