  • because its got a 13amp plug on it they are not going to be happy!

That would be a really crappy reason for LG to walk away - good luck with that though by all rights you shouldn't need it
  • Oh I know but for them to come out they charge £450 if there isnt a fault!

    Hi,
my ASHP performed admirably over the winter. I've got the Mitsubishi Ecodan HP that is guaranteed to operate down to -20degC. The coldest it got here is -9degC and it seemed to work fine. The heat exchanger obviously gets clogged up with ice quite frequently, but the HP reverse cycles about once an hour to get rid of it, generating enormous amounts of condensate water in the process!

In terms of how the house felt, I didn't notice any difference really, the house was still heated to 21degC. I didn't really monitor the electricity usage during the cold spell, but we just had a meter reading for the last few months, and it was nothing beyond expectations given the time of year.

Great stuff Sam, think we are all impressed with how our systems have performed.

I will say though my Outdoor unit needs a new PCB (CIRCUIT BOARD) as the control of the system is a bit scatty at the moment.

Are you using the condensate water in any way? I'm thinking this water is going to be pretty much purified, similar to rain I guess, and might make a nice drink!

A dirty condenser will not make the compressor buzz loudly.

We need a video, user please make one.
will do over the weekend. i guess it must be a problem with something as only recently has it started to buzz loudly, it did not do so before.
Sorry about the long wait guys, we have just started using our heat pump again and I remembered the buzzing sound the compressor makes! Richardc1983 asked for a video showing the buzzing sound, here it is:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2f-td4gZbA

It was dark outside so my camera didnt pick up any picture, but the buzzing sound is clear. This is when the compressor is at full whack (it is an inverter). Model is Gree kfr 32g n1jf (http://www.mgr-ac.co.uk/productView....5&categoryID=2).

If anyone has any ideas as to the possible cause of the buzzing I would be very grateful. I initially thought it could be vibration from the unit on the unitstrut bracket mounting but I dont think this is the case.

Hmmm, if its when its running at full speed it could be normal mine makes a noticeable sound when ramped right up but not as loud as yours, this can be heard about 4 ft away but its not enough to annoy or disturb anyone, and thats only in heat mode.

How far from the unit did you record the sound from, and is it currently in cooling mode?

Its currently in cooling mode, and I was about 10ft away when recording.
Someone suggested a bearing on the fan in the compressor?
It did not make this noise when first installed, but I noticed it when we used it in heating mode earlier this year. It has hardly been used before that, although installed for 2 yrs.
