  • I changed my CC vouchers for Merlin Entertainments passes x 3 at Thorpe Park yesterday!!

For anyone that is going there to change their coupons...there is 2 que's, one for park passes bought online and one for Merlin Passes. Just keep an eyeball out, as the que for the Merlin passes are much shorter than the other one (they are next to each other but people just form one big massive line!!), when we first got there is was just one massive que, luckily I had a nosey and walked straight in to the Merlin booth, where they took our photos and gave us the pass, and said if we need to replace the cards we would have to go back to Thorpe Park and pay ten pounds for replacements.

The one good thing about the passes we saved 20% off all food and drink purchases from their shops, which all in all ended up being a massive saving. And I think if you go to a Park and you have to pay for parking, Merlin card holders park for free!!

So overall it was a sucess yesteray...the sun was out although it was little windy.

One of the rides broke whilst in motion (gulp) and these poor people were stuck high in the air until an engineer turned up! And also caught 2 litter pickers rolling joints in the mother and baby changing unit. reported this straight away to park security.

Just one thing really annoyed me...we bought a coco cola drink capsule for 4.99 and it was free refills all day. The trouble was non of the refill booths were open!! We trasped round and round and kept asking staff for help and redirected here and there. Eventually one opened at 12pm. You have to show your receipt to prove you bought it on the the Park site and you cannot use it at other sites. However my OH had an idea, take it when we go to another park and he will buy one and refill both of them seperatly using the same receipt!! normal prices for buying a soft drink start at 2.20. So its well worth buying a capsual and remember to use your merlin card for 20% off!

Funky Monkey did you have the new tiype tesco deal then?? The one that cost more or did you have to upgrade??

Still trying to work out if I need to send my cc vouchers back with extra points or not?? Think I will need to maybe I should just call them!
  • funky monkey i went to thorpe park last year and it was a nightmare trying to find somewhere to fill my coke capsule. not much fun if you're on the toddler bit with a small child and all the nearby refill stations are closed - this was in school holidays too, albeit october.

alton towers is our local and they charge £4 for parking, it's free for pass holders.

very sneaky with the capsule idea lol! alton towers staff have never asked for a receipt but at chessington and thorpe they asked every time.

Furypig - yes I have the new type cards which covers everything - or so I thought!!! Went to Madam Tussauds Saturday (didnt want to go but husband talked me into it) and it was great. It has certainly changed...even got a Big Brother chair diary room, which was great because you can talk to Big Brother and he gets you to do stuff...truely funny stuff.

However! They have a scary bit you can go into (THEY dont recommend it for under 12 year olds because (actors) as villans come after you in the dark, and they say its quite frightening, but we was stopped going in because (apparently) the Merlin pass didnt cover it and was told I would have to upgrade iour Merlin Passes for an extra 3 quid each! How gutted was i??? It would have beeen nice if it was mentioned somewhere that this bit WASNT included in the deal!!

So yes bear in mind if you do go to Madam Tussauds you will be stopped!! Very dissapointing but otherwise a great day out.

Also went on the London Eye - again, truely fab, and really relaxing, perfect for winding down after a busy day!!:T

Twice  I have been once to chamber live and vowed never again - never been so scared in all my life. Step-daughter took ages to calm down after - think they picked on us cause we were two lone females at the back of the group and we screamed a lot :o
  • I phoned up Madame Tussauds and asked if the new passes were included for Chambers Live and was told 'no, you would need to pay and extra 3 pounds for entry, and it is stated in terms and conditions on the merlin website.

I checked out the t&cs and sure enough Chambers Live IS NOT part of the Annual passes, only Chambers Walk.

MT also mention Warwick castle also has limitations, so its worth checking your t&cs to see.

So if you get in, your lucky, but it looks like they are clamping down on it.

    Hope this helps.
