City-Link, I just don't understand

What they pretty much said to me yesterday was it'd definitely go out today with or without the confirmation from the retailer as they had spoken to "Steve" at the local depot.
But f* me, this morning no update on tracking history. So I phoned them who put me through to the local depot. They said it hadn't been sent out. I said I was 100% assured yesterday it would be. They said they hadn't been told anything by the office. So I namedropped "Steve" the guy in charge and that the office specifically told me they'd spoken to him. Unfortunately "Steve" isn't in yet but they told me they'd speak to him when he did come in and they would send out the parcel today.
I can't decide whether this morning's revelation is incompetance, the office lying and making up the "Steve" conversation, deliberately being obstinate because I caught them out faking delivery attempts or a combination of all.....
After I'd put a note on the door and everything
I'm pretty fuming at the moment."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

For the first time I'm now going to seriously consider future purchases simply based on the courier used. This is very disappointing because one of the shops I tend to frequent is Scan and they use citylink. Never had a problem with them and I get free postage. Even though they're not involved I may send them an email about their choice of courier and it's affect on my future purchasing decisions."She is quite the oddball. I have nothing but bad experience with this company - they LIE consistently about leaving cards for deliveries and I firmly believe their drivers work to set times and do not deviate from this. I have been told the driver ran late, ran out of time, broke down and was on his way - all for the SAME delivery then when I checked online, guess what - I had been carded for no-one home!
I also suspect that the companies they deliver for would not be happy with non-delivery for no reasons so they put everything down as no-one home to cover their own incompetenceThe Daily Mail

Well we've been keeping the retailer informed as everything pretty much happens so they can't claim that this was all done in hindsight."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Phoned again because I don't trust them and it's apparently on their system as being delivered tomorrow and to be left with neighbours if not in!!!! What happened to my conversation 2 hours ago that "we'll get it sent out today". The retailer has also apparently refused the 3rd delivery charges. Can't blame them. I've stated point blank there wasn't a first or second delivery attempt. And no need to leave with neighbours I'm in all day every day. I've dropped the niceties and !!!!!footing around and point blank described the delivery driver as a liar and has made no attempts at delivery and only appeared once simply to record the colour of the door. I was thinking about this last night and although I end up being a self doubter there's no other explanation and there can be no way they made a delivery attempt so that's the way I'm going to treat it. No ifs and maybes. The driver is a liar and the company can't give a straight answer. Supposedly the CS rep I spoke to a few minutes ago has put it in her personal diary to ring me first thing tomorrow and confirm with local depot it's gone out. I shan't hold my breath. I said before I was pretty fuming. Well I guess you can imagine what this has ratcheted it up to!!!"She is quite the oddball. How ironic, literally this minute a City Link van has stopped outside a neighbour's to deliver a parcel for them. Didn't have time to go out and quiz them though. If I can notice a van pull up for a neighbour how am I suppose to have missed one at our house?"She is quite the oddball. I said but there haven't been any attempted deliveries, but they've apparently agreed to deliver again tomorrow whether they have the confirmation or not and the manager of the local depot will waive the charges for the time being. How kind.
I said to them that I need bloody 24 hr CCTV just to prove anything and all they could say was "yes". I was being sarcastic! All they need is the colour of your door yet I'd already said a van pulled up outside. At least I have on record that I phoned them at 9:15 well BEFORE they claim to have attempted delivery. If it's not coincidence and I'm lying then I'd have had to concoct the story and tell them before they attempted delivery. What's the point in that?
Yup, on ours they kept sayin attempted delivery failed. When I phoned them I told them that their drivers shouldn't be driving becuase there was a note on the tree saying, "If no answer leave on doorstep" in large bold letters and if they couldn't see that then they must be totally blind. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. I think the idea of a note on the door is a good one, especially if you address it to the Citylink driver and make it something like 'Bananas' so that if they do pull up and note the colour of your door to use as 'proof' you can ask what the note on the door said and there would be no way of them faking that if they hadn't got out of the van!
It really seems like they have a foolproof system - by systematically failing to deliver they don't 'waste time' finding out whether there is anyone home or not, and they get paid extra for the priviledge. A claim about a card and the colour of someone's front door is apparently a substitute for actually knocking or genuinely leaving a card is enough as the depot will also do well out of 'redelivery' fees from companies who have no way of knowing whether they have attempted delivery or just brazenly lied with the support of their management who are also presumably doing pretty well out of being paid twice for failing to deliver any service. NO driver needs to be reprimanded because the more they lie and fail to deliver, the more money they earn!
Having said that, I once had a pair of trousers left in my bin by a delivery person, so encouraging them to deliver at all costs is clearly not a good idea if they can't be trusted to appreciate what constitutes delivery and what borders on disposal! There must be some happy medium where items are not left on display or in rubbish bins, but the driver does actually attempt to deliver something before giving up.0 -
I was meant to get a refurbed replacement mobile from bt yesterday it never came !!
City link had logged it arrived at depot but then at 8.16am logged as missing !!
Eventually gave up and called BT and as I told them I want a brand new working mobile or my contracts over they have ordered a brand new upgraded phone to arrive tomorrow again by City link !!
The high level manager I am dealing with at BT was promised by City link that it WOULD arrive tomorrow so shes chasing it if it hasnt arrived when she calls me at 3.30pm !!Cloudedbrains aka Donna0 -
I've addressed the note above our letter box specifically to City Link (although now that they say they're not coming today anyway....) so there's no excuse for not taking notice of it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
