City-Link, I just don't understand

I remember reading a post on here by someone a while back, which suggested that you write a note on the door to the courier. Something along the lines of 'I am IN! Please knock!' or something.
One, you've got an extra three seconds to get to the door, which can make the difference with some couriers. CityLink in particular like to try and run away from the door before I get there. Two, if they claim they tried to deliver, you can say 'Oh really? So what did the note on the door say?'.
OP - Hope you get the parcel in the end!Everyday I am asked to be a magician, in a world where magic does not exist.0 -

First they tried to deliver some underfloor heating, and on two occasions they claimed to have carded the house, this despite the fact that there was no card on either occasion and my partner staying in all day watching out for them, luckily after chasing up with the sending company they delivered once they had been paid for a next day delivery. so thanks to Wayne at Floor Heating Systems Ltd and no thanks to City Stink. Next we decided to get something from Amazon and pay for next day delivery, they had it on the van so tracking told us but didn't bother to turn up, we phoned the office but were told they couldn't reach the driver and couldn't give us details about when it would turn up. It eventually turned up later the next day luckily we were in. Bunch of timewasters!
It's a poor state of affairs because it's technically the retailers' responsibility to ensure you get the goods and yet with courier problems they're not the ones (morally) to blame."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I was actually thinking something along those lines. I may indeed do that. Of course with what happened yesterday it'd be the second part of your suggestion that was relevant considering he never even got out of the van."She is quite the oddball. What a good idea! I'd be tempted to write a code or something extra just so the courier couldn't bluff. Trusting soul aren't I?0 -

Although their attitude so far seems to be that if they know the colour of the door that's proof enough they tried delivery. I can imagine them claiming they didn't take notice of what was written and simply "posted the card"."She is quite the oddball. Sounds like a scam to get retailers to pay for third or more deliveries, alert the retailer.
Never buy from retailers who use City Link - unless you live near a depot from where you can collect.0 -
I've never had any trouble with citylink but have read about loads of problems I have a note on my door saying please come to back door doorbell on side of garage please be aware of the dogs...got out of that one...citylink:rotfl:

end of the day the retailer chooses the courier the use.

I suppose it's this kind of thing that highlights whether it's a good or bad company and whether they support the customer or support the courier they use."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Dont get me started on City link. I had a failed delivery one day. Not a problem, I was out, but I phoned up and said I would pick the parcel up from the depot the next day. All recorded on the computer fine. So the next day I drove 15 miles to the depot, only to be told "oh its out on the van for delivery". I was furious, and pointed at the computer terminal infront of the kumbskull which said "hold for collection". he just laughed and said, oh well if you're quick you might get back in time.
I drove home at speed, and waited until 6pm but still no car, and no delivery. I called again and requested again for the parcel to be held at the depot.
The next day i went back, another 15 miles and tried to pick up the parcel. Once again, they said "oh its out on the van for delivery". This time I was livid!! I demanded to see the manager and ask what he would do about it. "Nothing" was his reply. He couldn't care less so I pretty much screamed the depot down and demanded the driver be called and asked to leave the parcel on the door step. I had driven in total 60 odd miles and paid nearly £10 for delivery from the retailer and asked specifically to collect the parcel which was showing on their computer screen.
Thankfully, they left it on the step, but my god it took a lot of doing.
Thats one of a few times where city link have been the most incompetent useless delivery company ever.0
