Just a quick update, FIL has had an awful week! He has hardly eaten, no appetite, is covered in sores & looks terrible.

He has his CT scan on Wednesday!

Hopefully this week will bring some better days.

Hi Kirsty, I was so saddened to read that and can only hope that things will take a turn for the better very soon. Has he got to have many more chemo sessions? I'd hope not, but..... Let's hope the CT scan mightn't be so bad on Wednesday, it's all so awful for him to endure, but for you all to bear as well. I truly am praying for and thinking of you all. Love, Sue.

The hospital has said, apparently no more chemo at the moment as its not giving him a quality of life. He has had a 12 wk course, with gaps in between due to his health. The CT scan is today & the results are on Monday.

He managed to get out of bed yeasterday, so that's something.

Thanks Kerry & Sue for your comments. They are really appreciated. I'm sure things will improve once the chemo is out of his system.

    Kirsty.

Reading this thread is really touching...

I too am running for the first time, I am determined to run not walk (despite my o/h once saying "don't ever do that again" after I ran for a train!!)

So far I have one other person going, and have just set up my page. If anybody feels that they want to donate, even if it's a very small amount, please go to:

    https://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/camillam

I am running for my aunty who died when I was 11 (i'm now 22), as well as for all those people affected every day by cancer.

Good luck to everybody participating, i'm now going to look at other people's pages (well I can't really sponsor myself can I?!)

I'm also running for the first time. I'll be at Richmond Park. I hope to run but might have to walk every now and then, as I have arthritis and I'm also a big girl! I'm doing it with two friends. I'm running as I've had a few scares, but thankfully each time I was alright, but I want to help those who are affected by cancer.

If anyone would like to sponsor me here is my link http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/teresabyrne

Good luck to everyone else - who knows we could be running alongside a fellow MSE member!
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

I'm running for the first time this year in Bolton on 20th July. Thankfully, I haven't had anyone close to me diagnosed with Cancer. I'm just doing it for everyone who has ever been affected and ever will. Any kind of donation would be much appreciated. i've not ran for 12 years since I was at school so have no idea how bad I'm going to be!! haha

That is the reason I have done it the past 2 years and signed up again this year, although since the New Year my brothers MIL has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is going through treatment at the moment. It came completely out of the blue!

Hope all is as well as it can be with your FIL isualive! :)
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!

Well done Cam Tagz & gerturdeanna!

Take you time tagz as it's the taking part that's the main thing, not the running.

Hi finallydebtfree, I do hope your Brother's MIL will make a full recovery, what a shock. One of our neighbours is fighting an aggressive type at the moment, that was out of the blue as well.

    Best wishes all.

    Sue

Hi Kirsty, I hope things aren't too bad and that without the chemo your FIL has a better quality of life now, though obviously it'll take a while to get out of his system. I'm thinking of you all.

Good luck to the recent posters, who are also taking part in this years "Race For Life."

    Hiya Sue & Kerry,

So sorry Kerry to hear about your brothers MIL, hope she makes a full recovery. My thoughts are with you, & so sorry to hear about your neighbour Sue. Sending my best regards to you as well.

My FIL had his CT results. Absolutely gobsmacked. It's still terminal, but the tumour has halved in size. Can't believe it! :j

He has to go back in 6 wks, & have a chemo break of 3 months. When he was told the news he just burst out in tears. The relief was immense. :j

We have all been on cloud nine ever since. We sat with him last night for a few hrs & to be honest it was lovely. His spirits are good & he has more energy this week. He is still very weak though.

His wife had gone to her first carers meeting at the local hospice. She said it was really beneficial to talk to others in her situation.

Here's to a good rest of the week.

    Best Regards

    Kirsty.

  • Hello
Just wanted to say Good luck to all the ladies taking part in Race for Life.
This will be my 3rd year and its something that is very important to me.
My Sister died in June 06 aged 33yrs. She was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer 15 weeks after giving birth to the son she had waited 10 years for!
My sister got 3 & a half years out of her precious boy but because of the severity ofher condition she was unable to care for him solely so he lived with myself and my husband but saw mummy every day.
You can read my story on my page.
This year will be really difficult for me as it is only a week after the 2nd anniversary and the day before my birthday.
My Nephew will be doing it this year for first time too, I rang RFL and they said he could do it as he wants to help people who are poorly like his mummy was. He is 5 now and hubby and I are the legal guardians. He is a very special boy and I am so proud.

So good luck to you all, I hope it goes well.

    Tamara xx
