I am running my second Race For Life on the 8th June at Hampstead Heath and am really looking forward to it. Training is going really well. I ran 25mins this morning before work and it felt really good (once I finished running of course - LOL!!!)
I have set up my own blog to track my training and also as another way to raise sponsorship. Feel free to have a look and make comments and if you haven't sponsored anyone yet and would like to, all donations will be gratefully received:

Good Luck ladies...run run run!!!!!My mantra is "Never pay full price!"0 -
All the very best to you miss_angie1, run for those you've loved and lost but who will still be with you as you continue to fight... their fight!!

Hello
Just wanted to say Good luck to all the ladies taking part in Race for Life.
This will be my 3rd year and its something that is very important to me.
My Sister died in June 06 aged 33yrs. She was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer 15 weeks after giving birth to the son she had waited 10 years for!
My sister got 3 & a half years out of her precious boy but because of the severity ofher condition she was unable to care for him solely so he lived with myself and my husband but saw mummy every day.
You can read my story on my page.
This year will be really difficult for me as it is only a week after the 2nd anniversary and the day before my birthday.
My Nephew will be doing it this year for first time too, I rang RFL and they said he could do it as he wants to help people who are poorly like his mummy was. He is 5 now and hubby and I are the legal guardians. He is a very special boy and I am so proud.
So good luck to you all, I hope it goes well.
Tamara xx

What a story Tamara, I honestly can't imagine just how you must all have felt when it was diagnosed, but sadly cancer knows no forgiveness where age is concerned, little ones either, but he's obviously going to be a fighter just as his mum was. What a blessing her little lad has with you both, his mum at the time of her passing too, knowing she was leaving him in such wonderful hands. He sounds a very special boy indeed. There's possibly no coincidence in the anniversary and you Birthday....and she'll know doubt be with you all the way.

Good luck to the recent posters, who are also taking part in this years "Race For Life."
Hiya Sue & Kerry,
So sorry Kerry to hear about your brothers MIL, hope she makes a full recovery. My thoughts are with you, & so sorry to hear about your neighbour Sue. Sending my best regards to you as well.
My FIL had his CT results. Absolutely gobsmacked. It's still terminal, but the tumour has halved in size. Can't believe it! :j
He has to go back in 6 wks, & have a chemo break of 3 months. When he was told the news he just burst out in tears. The relief was immense. :j
We have all been on cloud nine ever since. We sat with him last night for a few hrs & to be honest it was lovely. His spirits are good & he has more energy this week. He is still very weak though.
His wife had gone to her first carers meeting at the local hospice. She said it was really beneficial to talk to others in her situation.
Here's to a good rest of the week.
Best Regards
Kirsty.
Hi Kirsty,
I almost missed your post, I just thought I'd pop and make sure and there you were.
I'm delighted about your FIL, no wonder the relief was so great from him and marvellous for all. Thank the Lord for wonders such as that at least it gives him time to pick up a bit, to eat and gain a little weight too perhaps? It must be so good to share happy times with him, I hope you get many such times.
Good news about your MIL, it must be wonderful to meet others going through exactly the same feelings and emotions as she is and to be able to share and understand has to be priceless. I'm so pleased Kirsty! Thanks so much for letting us know.
All the very best.

I'm Racing for Life with 15yo DD and 2 of my friends at York on 6 July at 10:30 :j My sponsorship page is here.
This will be our 4th year. I'm hoping to be able to keep up with DD's long, slim legs, but don't hold out much hope!

Hi Everyone,
In 2001, I lost my Nanna to Mastetic Breast Cancer. She had originally been diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1999 but she had her breast removed and was given the all clear. However at the end of 2000, she had a severe watering eye and by the beginning of 2001, she felt very ill and didn't have the energy to get up out of bed. This just wasn't like her.
Doctors diagnosed her 4 times with severe sinustis (sp). However, she was referred to Moorfields Eye Hospital where they diagnosed her with Cancer of the Brain, caused by nodules of Cancer which had originally been in her breast and had broken off and gone elsewhere. Hence why it was called Mastetic Breast Cancer. She died in June 2001, after the Cancer had spread to nearly every vital organ in her body. One day it was in her Liver, the next day it was spreading through her bones. It was a disease on the rampage if you like.
Cancer took away a bright, fighting woman who loved life and it also took her away from a family who loved her dearly. it took aay our centerpeice to our family and the hole that is left has never been filled.
On June 22nd, I am running/walking the Race For Life in her memory as well as trying to raise more money for Cancer, not just Breast Cancer, all types of Cancer, so that we can cure this disease once and for all. Anyone who has seen someone suffer from Cancer or who suffers from Cancer themselves know what an awful, heartbreaking disease this is. I want to help make a difference so people can stop having to suffer the heartache and pain of this diease. Together, we can stamp out Cancer.
If there is a race near you this year ( www.raceforlife.org ), please consider running/walking it. It can really help to change lives. Or, if you can't please sponsor me at my page:

Hi pash, so sorry to hear of your very sad losses who quite naturally become the losses of so many others, friends and family. Wonderful news to hear of those recovering and good wishes for those still fighting it! I don't think there can be many of us who remain unaffected by this evil disease, which is why we need to live life to the full while we can! All the very best for the race and I sincerely hope you achieve all you set out to - along with collecting plenty of money too! Best wishes, SueThank you for reading. I hope I have not offended anyone in anyway with this post.
Hi Baby_J, of course you haven't offended anyone with your post! We all need reminders of just how quickly life can be snatched away from us and for so many others too; as it's seldom only one or two who are affected by the illness/death of a loved one, many family and friends are also robbed of that vibrant soul. All the very best to you for your run too, I hope you also are sponsored well. Hi Kirsty and thanks so much for the up-date. It is wonderful to hear that things, for now, are going fairly well for you all. You've got such a great attitude and I think you're coping understandably well, all things considered. It sounds as if your FIL has accepted things and is therefore able and determined to get the best out of his remaining time, a remarkable man indeed. Love and hugs to you all Kirsty, keep well and hopeful for those good days, some good weather to go with it as well is bound to be marvellous for you all.
