My mum was 52 when she died of cancer 18 months ago. She was misdiagnosed by her GP for over 6 months and it was only when she went to hospital to see an emergency night doctor as she was in so much pain that a doctor got suspicious (she had been successfully treated for breast cancer 9 years previously) and organised some tests.

It turned out that she had secondary liver cancer but because her doctor had not picked up on it (even though the cancerous bulk was over a stone in weight and made her look pregnant) it was too late to be operable and she was given 6-12 months to live.

Less than 2 months later I came home from work and she was lying dead on the floor, the cancer had caused a pulmonary vascular embolism. It was a week before my youngest sisters 21st birthday.

Thankyou to everyone that helps in any way that they can to fight this awful disease.

(I am even using marie curie daffodil pins as button holes at my wedding next year...my mum died before I got engaged so never knew, it would have made her so happy)

Such a very sad story R. I hope your day for the run's a good one, with great success. They'll be with you all the way, your mum at your Wedding too, I'm sure, as they never really leave us if we keep them in our hearts.

    All the very best, Sue.

    Hi pash,

Just wondering if part of the reason you're struggling so much to get sponsors is because you don't put your real name on the just giving page. I'm sure it helps people when they see the person's name rather than a pseudonym. To be honest, I've never seen another that hasn't had the real name yet.

Food for thought for you I hope, but I do so hope you'll soon get some 'custom'. All the very best for the race and completing it with so many loved ones watching over you.
