Morning all! Get well hugs to all those feeling poorly
Day 13 of middle ear infection and I am going stir crazy with boredom! I feel relatively ok if I do nothing! I can't go out the house without feeling like I'm going to topple over
I have sold most of what I can think of on ebay although might have another riffle through the cupboards. Problem is, the longer I spend on ebay, the more money I seem to spend on it!
Thriftlady- Thanks for the inspiration of carrot muffins. OH loves carrot cake and I have a big tub of cream cheese, so might whip up half a dozen for him! He's got to drop the car at the garage for its MOT and get 2 buses home, so it will be a nice treat for him after a long day teaching!
Breakfast is going to be porridge, lunch will be noodles and tea will be shepherds pie (which was going to be last nights mince and onion pie until I realised I was using sweetened shortcrust- must label things better!)
JocketUK Just noticed your siggy- thats some inspirational weight loss! I must get myself on the weight loss OS board again!
Sola- you WON't be disappointed with your Panny. I love mine and haven't bought a loaf since getting it. Just so you know Dove's organic strong wholemeal is on spesh in Sainsbury's and Tesco for 60p- so go stock up. Own brand strong wholemeal is normally about 95p and it isn't organic0 -
Morning all :hello:
Hope you feel better soon Mrs Mix, LTS, Donny, Joeyemma and Miss TattyCath.
Hugs to you Catowen
Happy Birthday Tired Dad.
Off to the office in a bit. Slowly making my way through all the paperwork on my desk.
Roast chicken tonight and then make sweetcorn soup for Thursday night as OH is on one of the islands for the day so will be home late. I've stuck really well to my meal plan this month and have spent £120 instead of the usual £300 so far this month. The money I have saved was supposed to be going towards next Christmas and the summer holiday but I'm going to buy a greenhouse instead.
BM is on, DW and WM emptied and beds made. The rest will have to wait until after work. Also need to make a few more meals for the family to have when I'm in hospital next week. I caught OH sneaking potato waffles in to the freezer last night. He can't even wait till my back is turned before he does it.
Going to Aldi later as they have loads of Fruit and veg reduced to 39p.
Take care

Good Morning to everyone,
hugs to all the poorlies and I hope you feel better soon!
My crochet blanket daybed thing for DD is taking shape, I am using multi-coloured and white in a mix (simply because I had that at home) and if I continue at the speed I am doing it at the moment - it will be done soon.
I am hunting through charity shops at the moment to find wool as well, because I want to make one for myself as well. I am always cold and I love the idea of having one in the lounge.
We are having potato and noodle soup with veggies tonight. Yum, can't wait it is one of my favorites.
Other than work which isbut hey ho it's only another 8 days...
We booked our holiday for this year as well - a cottage in Cornwall for a week for £202 in June - not too bad. The piggy bank holiday fund is on the go - we are putting £3 in each day and whatever change we have - this means we have about £450 spending money for the holiday which should be plenty.:p... We want to go and see things like Eden project etc.
Hope you all have a good day

Gooooood Morning, fellow OS’ers
Finally got around to uploading the photo’s to the computer, but haven’t got as far as emailing them yet (got sidetracked  ) but, one thing we did learn was that my memory card from the camera fits in the Wii, so we can view the photo’s on the TVThe lads had a bit of a giggle playing with the features but I don’t think a certain friend would have felt flattered with having them put starbursts on her eyes and ears, and a love heart on her nose
When I went away for the night last week, I had some freebies thrust at me at the station (Yorkshire tea, our favourite plus Dorset cereal) not that I’m complainingIt was to promote Stress Down Day on 1st February in support of the Samaritans. The De-stress Kits they are selling are rather on the pricey side though, even if it is for a good cause! I’ll stick to my own pamper basket I think
Great news about making cookery lessons compulsory in schools! :j :j I’m delighted about that. I’m disappointed that it’s only for one hour a week for one term though. But, hey, better than nothing; a step in the right direction at least
B: Toast
L: Clean out the fridge soupChicken stir fry
tattycath – whenever I do a joint in the slow cooker, I cook it the day before and then put it in the fridge overnight. It firms it up and makes carving easier. (I do the same with oven roast joints as well – slices thinner and goes further) Any juices that remain are used for stock and then gravy and soups. That’s the way I get over the falling off the bone lumps of meat issue.
((catowen))
Many Happy Returns to Mr Tired Dad
Frenchmaid – how exciting! It’s wonderful to finally have your holiday booked and secure; something to look forward to! Good for you
Get well wishes to all who are poorly or under par (I know the feeling!) and wishing you all a money saving Tuesday~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning all,
Haven't read yesterdays thread yet so hugs to all who need them. We had a dinner party here last night for dh's work and it looks like the wreck of the Hesperus now this morning. First load is in the DW. There was an American visiting so I did roast lamb with Yorkies and all the trimmings for 8 people, then fruit, cheese, HM oatcakes and truffles (l/o Xmas box!).
Woke up at 5 this morning - why do you feel so bad when you fall asleep again? and why do you have such strange dreams?
Ds1 is on a half day today - think I'll do HM pizza for lunch for him and me - ds2 is having a school dinner - I had planned on him having a lamb sandwich - but it was all hoovered last night:D Dinner will be pasta with tomato, bacon and pea sauce - lots of peas leftover.
Luckily the house is clean and tidy - although I have to rescue all the clean washing from the spare room where it got hidden yesterday before everyone arrived.

Morning all
Hugs to all the poorlies this morning.
Cat - Hope you get something sorted soon, hopefully surestart can help or find out about sustainability grants etc for you.
Went wedding dress shopping with a friend yesterday - wow - what an eyeopener that was - having never shopped for a proper wedding dress I couldn't belive they want you to pay for something that won't arrive until a month before the wedding and you can't even try it on as they don't keep one in your size in the shop!!!! Think my friend was a bit shocked too but what do you doHave persuaded her to explore the "made to meausre" option at some of the local dressmakers....really didn't know it would be so hard. Looked at bridesmaid dresses too, both my DD's have been asked, but the elder one's having a bit of a wobble about having to wear a "pink - girlie girl" dress  After nearly fainting at the prices in the shops we found some suitable ones on Ebay so just waiting to hear back on measurements etc.
I've swished and swiped downstairs - beds are airing and windows are all open for a bit of fresh (mighty chilly) air - will do an hours ironing in a bit and get some veg in the SC for a soup - BM needs to go on this evening - I've started doing the dough in there and baking the bread in the oven - easier to cut.
Am thinking about trying to do a monthly online shop rather than weekly instore shops, for those who do it - does it work out cheaper?...I can see it does in theory but not sure if it saves much in reality.
Hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi - I'm new to the OS board.... normally lurk on DFW.
I'm trying to make more use of my slow cooker - it's not a modern one, only has 2 settings, low and high but I used it the other day, I cooked a beef brisket and got 2 meals out of it, so want to try more.
I can't seem to find any recipes anywhere, is there a thread for them? Or can anyone suggest somewhere? I'd like to try making a chilli 2moro, I have mince, chilli powder, chopped toms, kidney beans, onion.
Thanks for any help xx"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Morning all  hugs to all those who are feeling grotty. Scuzz, I hope your eye is better today.
Long day here for me, but I'm going to try and power through it. My arms are really sore today (atopic eczema) and my hands are cracked and bleeding because they are so dry after working with stuff that went straight through my gloves yesterday (occupational hazard) . I'm covered in cold cream, and barrier cream, so hopefully it won't get any worse, but it looks dreadful and makes me feel self concious.
OH made yoghurt yesterday with some gold top milk he bought cheaply in somerfield - but it didn't set properly (I don't know what he did) so I got up before him and refilled the pots with some extra stuff from the fridge so they look like they did. He's trying hard (bless) so I didn't have the heart to just leave them.
Pooky, I didn't understand the wedding dress thing either - when my sister chose hers it was a nightmare, it was horribly expensive and turned up a day before the wedding with none of the correct alterations done so the straps kept slipping down all the time.
