OS Tuesday 22 January 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today, Tuesday 22 January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - an early start for me. WM + TD on, and washing-up cleared. Just placed a Sainsburys order online, as I got a £10 e-voucher for orders over £70, so that's all the catfood for Feb ordered. Busy day ahead workwise. Feeling pretty good as I've updated my results on the January Grocery Challenge, and now have an idea of what we're spending where and how to stay on top of it.

I got a delivery from The Soap Kitchen yesterday - have to ferry it back from work in a rucksack. Haven't had a chance to sort it out yet, but I ordered a huge bottle of acetic acid to dilute with 9 parts water to form white vinegar, a large bag of bicarbonate of soda, some borax, and some essential oils. Also expecting my Panasonic breadmaker to arrive at work over the next day or so, so I'm ready to set to with making yummy bread :)

Breakfast: Shredded Wheat
Lunch: Tin of pasta
Dinner: Chicken quarters + roast Mediterranean veg

Have a good day everyone :)

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

  • Morning Guys!

Only slept for a couple of hours, but dont feel too tired because of it.

I forgot to say that my Lakeland Lasagne Dish came yesterday and its huge! I managed to find a £10 discount on MSE too:D ...my only complaint was the amount of packaging:eek:   ....there was tons of it and not all necessary.

Put timer on WM last night, so thats nearly finished and DW will go on after breakfast.

Have to be up Kings this morning, so that will probably be me done in for the day:rotfl:

Anyway, take care and hugs to all.

    Breakie: Tea & Toast
    Lunch: Tuna/cucumber/salad cream on wholemeal
Dinner: Leftover Chicken in Pie, Mash & Veg

Up since 6, have read the thread from yesterday, LOUMAC I just think it's so easy to do that sort of thing we are all so busy these days that are heads are filled up with so much other stuff.

Phoned our electricity supplier yesterday, to find out when our economy 7 started. He was unsure but thought it was between 22.30 and 06.30:confused: . So none the wiser really. Am having problems using timer switches with WM and dishwasher, so will just have to put them on as late as poss.

Today I have to go food shopping at Asda and Lidl. Also need to find a karate suit for DS and buy some compost to start some seeds off. Need to contact council again about allotments, there are some that are available nearby, that have just had a big security fence put around them:T .

Off to have a shower, have a good day all:A xxxx

Morning Sola & Sunny, and those who follow and cross....sure mioliere and scuzz are lurking somewhere.

Well it's fine here today (makes a change)

I'm just about to leap into action, well kettle boiling for a wash, no idea what's wrong with the boiler and as Mr Twit is working out of town, no idea when we will get it fixed. At least mum and dad only live round the corner so we can go and use their hot water later. :D

Work again today until 3pm and then I'm at my other job 5-7.
No idea what tea is going to be.

Scuzz, I hope your eye is a little better.
Stefejb good luck with food mountain.
Hester, I hope your colleagues make it through the day without collapsing.
dlb, are you still off the fags.
Catowen, good luck with finding a new LO to care for.

Hugs to those who need them and welcome any newbies.

Morning SOLA and SUNNYDAY - and all who post after me. (((Hugs))) to poorly ones - hope the bugs are starting to go away. I know some of them have got as far as France because I have friends there who are going through it at the moment!

Well, DH has just left for work having been told off for leaving the front door wide open while he loaded the car; leaves it wide open then says 'it's cold in here'! When I point out why he just says 'oh, yeah, sorry'. Anyway, I'm having a quick sit down with a cuppa then I shall have my shower and get going on the housew**k. DGS will be round after school so I have loads to do before then.

Dinner tonight will be sausage casserole, so I can prep that early, and pear and rhubarb crumble for pudding. I am following a very scribbled meal plan for the week so I must get a proper one printed up that I can fill it in each week. It really does help me stick to a budget. I must also go up to the shop and get a replacement battery for the carbon monoxide detector. It was beeping like mad when I woke up and I just assumed it was the smoke alarm which I took off the ceiling and then couldn't put back up so DH had to do it. It was going to be a no-spend day today but I'll just walk up to the local shop where I won't be tempted to buy anything else!

Well, I'm off for a shower so will call back later. I hope everyone has a good day.

    See you later.

    Morning

Well, not wet today, but very frosty - the dog likes to chase cars, so if it is slippery, I have to hand on to lamposts (at least it gives the motorists a smile) :rotfl:

Making some soup today, made some last week using a handful of broth mix, some veg and 2 veg stock cubes and a chicken one, and it was lovely - probably quite slimming too

Leek and bacon bake for tea, not sure what with though. Lots of listing on Ebay today, I know Thursday is half price, but if you use Auctive, scheduling is free :T

    Morning Everyrone

whatatwit - yes my eye is better today thank you. It did go again in the night, but it recovered by the time I woke up.

Spent the afternoon helping my friend and when I got home, promptly fell asleep till 9.30pm when I went to bed. The same friend I'd been helping all day kindly sent me a text at 10.20pm and woke me up:mad: She knows I get up at 4am. It wasn't even anything urgent.

Will have some breakfast in a minute - got a cereal bar thing.

Job for today is to get petrol at Mr T - who failed to send me my healthy living vouchers:mad:

    Hope everyone's ok

    morning all,

Can't see what the weather is like as its too dark, but it feels a lot colder today.

Want to do some bits of cooking today that I never got round to yesterday, stock and soup to make, pasta bake, cookies and maybe some scones.

We have roast lamb for tea, got a nice piece for just over £2, so will so a roast.

Will take DD to station then home for a good tidy round then get on. Little dog has just got up, she spends the night on DD's bed.

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning everyone!

Off to w*** soon. I had a call yesterday to ask if I could do a colleague's session at one of our outreach sessions. Wasn't too keen, but I get 1.5 hours in the car to listen to radio podcasts, and the chance to spend my lunch break browsing the best charity shops in our area :T

I then have my private meeting with a member of the Trustee Board to discuss my options for redundancy. They should then present us with their proposals, pretty soon.

Have a coupon for the garden centre, so I'll stop and buy some herb plants. Thanks for your suggestions, but I didn't stretch to a steam iron - that would make people think that I enjoy ironing  but I collect my new iron that I ordered from Argos, later, too :j And HJ if you tell anyone any different, I'll visit you in hospital and eat all your grapes!

Halfway through knitting a dishcloth, so I think I might buy another ball of cotton.

Have a great day, Penny. x
