  • Just done a quote with Insure Supermarket and gone for a policy with New Homes Insurance.

Insures up to 500,000 rebuilding cost and 15,500 contents. Cost 231.38 with legal protection.

I would persist with the internet quote Dawnylou!!!

£231.... is this an annual figure you pay?
How do I know what my annual figure is?
can't see anything about it in the docs, but I assume we are entitled to it cheaper as since we moved in we changed the lock on the front door, added a second lock to the patio, and had new double glaxed internal beaded windows all with locks fitted....
    Dream of being mortgage free....
    APR 2007 - £109,825 FEB 2012 - £98,664.53:beer:

  • I am looking to renew buildings and contents cover for my flat next month. I notice each year that not all companies seem to want to take on any buildings cover for a flat. Up to now Nationwide and the best quote at the moment Egg are the only ones I have found. Forgot to mention Halifax too but they are worth forgetting about at a quote almost 3 times more than egg. I have 5 years no claims too.

    Any suggestions

    Thanks in advance

So me and my partner pay £26 a month with Select & Protect for buildings and contents.
It covers us, I believe, for £50K for building & £15K for contents.
    Is this cheap?

We are really new to this....
    lol.

I tried to get an online quote but, erm, I got a bit lost... lol

My partner & I pay select & protect £29.86pm for buildings & contents. I'm gonna shop around & see if I can get it cheaper for this year.

  • Got my 15 quids worth of M and S vouchers from Chase Templeton today ;D, well pleased with them.

Just in the process of doing my life insurance with them too, they are gonna save me around £90 a year, which over a 25 year term is a pretty big amount.

Very pleasant to deal with and no bloody menu system lol, anyway just thought I`d update you on the M and S vouchers, they do take a while to come but he did say that thier brokers have to get paid first so thats why.

Great site Martin youve saved me loads already..cheers
  • ;D thought we were being stung but did insurance market and they come up with 365pa but we are paying 231. why? try RIAS,we have been with for buildings only for 6years plus. give them a try.
  • Ditto thanks to Adam Lee,

i used to do the insurance search manually, choose 4/5 companies, then phone around.

used the insuresupermarket web site, found a company, that was £250 less than my exisinting renewal, got a quote from them, compared line for line with current policy.... one small change, but still saved nearly £200 per year.... and i thought my current company was competative...... just goes to show.... search hard enough and you can save a small fortune

now insured with 'New home' insurance

the extra £17 per month, is being paid of my 12 month 0% balance transfer with barclaycard......
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
  • Hmm. I paid £360 in February for my home insurance (inc buildings and contents). Now I've found out I could have got it for £220. Would it be worth cancelling my current policy and starting another one now or should I just bide my time until it finishes? Any thoughts? (or is it obvious?)
