Get your hands out of your pockets.

Should I put this here or on the vent board.
I followed all the steps as advised and through the links fed in all my details http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1088370670,82853,.

After the search through Insure Supermarket (good site) the cheapest (not always the best) came up with Esure, I thought to myself this is going to save me nearly £300.00 so I filled out the form and put in my occupation HM Forces, it chugged around until it told me that due to my occupation they were not able to supply me with the Buildings and Contents Insurance.
What has this profession done to deserve this treatment? Do they think that being military my house and contents are at greater risk, will I bring a tank home to park in the garage knocking the walls down or be singled out by theives?
I finally got insurance through the supermarket but not with Esure.
Martin do you have a comment on this discrimination?

Not the first post on this site that Esure seem to want to decline anything that they think might be slightly higher risk ( I say they think - not what is)

    ???
Does anyone know who will provide House and Contents insurance for a residential Park Home (permanently located mobile home)? My old mum lives in one and would appear to be paying an awful lot through her current broker.

I used to be a broker about 3 years ago and found that payment shield used to be the cheapest by far, then was approached by a company called Chase Templeton who use Payment shield but give you a further brokers discount, plus they are damn cheap at everything else, saved near enough 30% of my other insurances and the best thing about them is no one comes out to see you its all done over the phone (they only see you to sell something else, which is very annoying)

the number I have for them is 0800 5837288 (yup just checked it and hung up lol)

not sure if you need a reference or anything, guess you`ll find out when you call them, but I was mailshoted ages ago but havent got the origanal bumph they sent out

    hope this helps

I've just renewed my contents insurance with Asda and asked if any way of getting it cheaper. They are sending me £20 of Asda vouchers.

    (Tried Insure Supermarket a couple of times but it just went "done" when I had put my details in and then nothing else happened, didn't get any emails or further info.}
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
  • just organised home + contents through broker Chase Templeton with payment shield both helpful and cheap-over £40.00 cheaper than zurich and esure.
Plus if you quote offer code PMO 254 they will send you £15.00 worth of M & S vouchers!

    Absolutely amazing!!!! :o

I just phone Chase Templeton and they shaved off another £40 off my lowest quote!

Big thank you to Adam Lee :-*
  • Thanks for the tip about Chase Templeton, i`ve only just registered today and allready saved myself a few quid, they beat my exisiting insurer (prudential) quite considerably (by 90 quid over the year) and I got full accidental damage in with the price as opposed to just having it limited to my tv and stuff.

Told the lad who did my quote I had a code for £25 worth of m and s vouchers, he very politely told me to do one lol but still got the £15 so cheers for that code too

08005837288, save you clicking back to the next screen

    cheers
  • read last weeks article on home insurance ( coinciding with my renewal from DIRECT LINE £394) thro Insure Supermarket got and bought virtually same cover from KEY CONNECT for £185. SAVING £209 . Easy & GOBSMACKED

I have just got my renewal for house insurance and it's gone up 15% from last year.

Is this an across the board increase or this this time to shop around?

Anyone recommend any companies doing good deals at the moment?

My current quote is £640 per annum for unlimited buildings & contents, personal possessions, bicycle cover, accidental damage and legal cover.
