Got Soaked in Tesco

Helen, you have my full sympathy. My worst experience with Tesco was when I was leaving their property, having just filled my car with fuel, one of their advetisment signs blew over in the wind and caused over £300 of damage. I didnt have time to stop as was already late for a meeting so I left it there and then, took note of the time and later on made a written complaint to the store manager, who choose to ignore it for 4 weeks. It was only when I made my complaint to Head Office that any action was taken and the conclusion to the tale was far from satisfactory. The result is that whilst Tesco is the most proffitable supermarket in the country, they will never see a penny from my pocket again.I'm back after a break :money:0

Then haven't you only got yourself to blame if you drive off leaving the scene of an accident without recording any details or letting the staff/store mangager know? It would have been your responsibility to inform staff of the accident and get them to record details of it.
How would they have had any proof that you weren't just some chancer who was trying to get their car fixed at Tesco's expense?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Hmm. Leave my child with special needs standing at the school gate or report an incident that happened in full view of Tescos CCTV. Decisions, decisions. Gee MrCow, what would you opt for?I'm back after a break :money:0

Thanks for the facetious comment  You said it was a 'meeting'.
It would have taken two minutes to have reported the problem. What would I do? I would not have been in the position where I was cutting my time so finely with a child of mine left standing at a school gate in the first place (special needs or not).
If I had left the scene of the accident (for whatever reason  ) where £300 of damage to my car had occurred to collect my son, I would have returned immediately back to the store after collecting him and got it reported/recorded then and there.
Or is that solution too obvious?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

MrB I wonder why you posted your situation on here if you were not prepared for differing viewpoints?
I have to say I agree with mrcow here. If it were me, I'd have run into the petrol station, told them what had happened and that I had to go pick up waiting child but I would be back within the hour to speak to a manager about it.
That way, it would only have held you up by a few minutes and Tesco would have been aware of the incident when it happened.
Leaving it and writing later just seems ridiculous to me. Different if you had spoken to a manager at the time and got no joy, then decided to write to further complain, but making a letter your first point of complaint was just not constructive imo.0 -
I haven't actually posted my situation. All I have tried to do was agree with the primary post that Tesco have a long way to go with their customer services. I feel the best way of agreement would be to post a further example of the poor way Tesco treat the people who have made them a highly profitable company. I have been drawn into an online argument that I don't really want or need by someone who basically called me an idiot. I have completed my business with Tesco (Without money changing hands, that was not the point) and I am satified with the conclusion. In my original post on this particular thread, my annoyance was pointed to people who have come onto a Vent board and left the flippant remark 'Get over it'.
We are consumers, and as such we have rights and one of those rights is to have our points of view heard by companies such as Tesco and most companies welcome any feedback, wether it be negative or positive. In this country we have been brainwashed to believe that if a company fails in anyway, we are entiled to compensation and so many companies will feed that beleif and send out vouchers when the majority of us who make a complaint want an action to prevent further misdemeanours occuring. Get over it doesnot get any results, insulting people online doesnot get results.I'm back after a break :money:0 -

Hilarious - just picturing in my mind what this would look like.

I think it better if we agree to disagree, I too have no wish to become involved in any kind of virtual argument. We obviously think about things differently. I think you did post about your situation....although you may not have posted the facts, you did outline a general scenario which pertained to your situation.
As for the people who posted flippant remarks...this is a general chat forum for all. It's not just here for the use of people with the same type of opinion. People were not trying to be derogatory, their opinions were asked for and they gave them. Many posters strongly believed the OP was being petty, expecting some sort of recompense just because she got wet. Just because the answers were in a tone that was not in line with what you deem to be correct doesn't mean they were any less valuable.
You have every right to be annoyed if you wish, but feeling that way doesn't mean you are any more right than they are. It's just different opinions.0 -

What do other readers think!
As you ask ..... I think it's all rather pathetic.
Claim on their insurance? For what exactly? Because you got wet? There was a heavy downpour, the guttering could not cope, and you got wet.Nobody was injured, there was no capital loss, yet you seem to want a handout? The compo culture, gggggrrrr.

The guttering couldn't cope because the building hadnt been maintained and, from the Manager's comments, it appears the rubbish had been in there for 5 years. There's no woman sicker than the woman who is sick on her day off !0
