I have made really authentic tasting naan in my Panny, but I used a different recipe.
This recipe comes from the book "Bread Machines & Beyond" by Jenny Shapter.
In the Breadpan
1 tsp easy blend yeast
280g Strong White Flour
4 tbsp natural yoghurt
1 garlic clove finely chopped
1 tsp black onion seeds (v cheap from indian supermarket)
1tsp ground coriander
1tsp salt
2 tsp clear honey
1 tbsp melted butter (or ghee)
100ml water
After the Panny has done its work
1tbs fresh coriander
a little melted butter for glazing the cooked naan
Method
1.Put the ingredients in your breadpan, starting with the yeast, then the flour, then the others (normal order for Panny).
2. Put the machine on the pizza dough cycle (45 mins for the Panny)
3. When finished, put your oven on to pre-heat on its highest setting, and put baking sheets in there. Tip out the dough onto a floured board, punch down, and knead in 1tbsp fresh coriander. Divide the dough in three pieces
4. Shape each pece into a ball. Work with one, keeping the other two covered while you do so. Roll out into a large teardrop shape, about 1/4 in to 1/2 in thick
5. At this point, put you grill on to its highest setting too.
6. Put the nan in the hot oven on the preheated baking sheets for 4 to 5 mins. They will puff up.
7. Remove the baking sheet(s) from the oven, and put them under the grill for a few seconds, until the naan start to brown and blister.
8. Brush with melted ghee or butter, and serve warm.
For a plain naan, omit the coriander, garlic and black onion seeds.

Well i decided on this recipe as posed by KAAT_LADY
Naan Bread
450g SR flour
1/2tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2tbsp veg oil
4 tbsp plain yoghurt (beaten)
2 eggs (beaten)
150ml water approx
(can add garlic, herbs, spices to flavour)
Sift flour, salt, baking powder into bowl and add oil, yoghurt and eggs (plus any herbs/spices you want to add) and mix. Add water slowly, using hands to bring together until you have a soft dough. Knead with wet hands for a couple mins then leave to rest for 15 mins.
Pre-heat oven to highest temp and place baking tray in to heat up.
Divide dough into 6 equal portions, and with floured hands roll each piece into a ball in palms of hand. Pull each ball out into a tear shape and place 2 at a time onto hot baking baking tray and return to oven immediately for about 3-4 minutes. Remove tray from oven and place under hot grill for about 30 seconds to brown and crisp top lightly. Keep warm in clean tea-towel.
will let you know how they turn out . knowing me well..Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0 -
Well they were lovely, far better than shop bought.
i only used half the recipe and made 4 little ones and have half to go in the freezer.
i never had veg oil so used olive oil
i never had plain yogurt so used natural yogurtmaybe this is the same thing.
oh and i planned on making corriander and garlic, had loads of garlic but used flat leaf parsely as that was all i had.
i will never buy shop bought ones again . also nice to know exactly what went into them .
thanks again

mmmmLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
They look good!
When I made naan, I just used my bread recipe, then cooked them in a hot dry frying pan.0
