Dear MoneySavers....
Debt Free Wannabee is one of my favourite boards on this site. It's also one which runs a delicate balance. Many people who have serious debts have hidden them for a time, been scared to confront them, suffered depression or have even had suicidal thoughts because of them.
While elsewhere on the site robust discussion is welcomed, in Debt Free Wannabee may I just caution MoneySavers to err on the side of kindness. Of course many are in debt due to over-spending, financial illiteracy, or mismanagement of money (and some through no fault, only due to circumstance). Yet the fact they are here means they're looking for help, guidance and to take charge of their finances - and that in itself is admirable
Please use your knowledge and kindness to help rather than to berate. This board often has the power to move me to tears with the sheer power of the community that's grown and I hope it will continue.
If you feel it’s important to point something out that the poster may find negative but needs to understand, then it's not a problem, but do think carefully about your phrasing - people can be very sensitive and nuances may mislead when it’s in an online Forum.</

Sorry I did not get the technical bit right.
My last post was a quote from Martin which I totally subscribe to

Mumoftwins and the twins and Italian Tony please ignore all of the hostility and negative comments and remember that this is more telling in relation to the character of those who originally posted it than any comment that has ever been made about yourselves and also please never forget that you have many people here who fully support you now and will do for as long as you need or want us to.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0

Viktory- have you ever been homeless?
I was made homeless 2 days before my 16th birthday.
I was too old to go into care and too young to qualify for any social housing. I was entitled to minimal income support (£18 per week) and was left to get on with it. I had all of my clothes (apart from my school uniform) shredded by my deranged mother but was unable to do anything about it because in the eyes of the law I was still a minor (But they wouldn't house me?).
Have you ever seen the film "Pay it Forwards?" It doesn't mean giving money. It encourages people to remember any kindness or charitable act done to them. Usually the giver will not hear of any repayment. So the receiver 'pays it forwards'. They do something for someone else.
Have you ever heard of Flylady? I know a lot of people on this website are members and I know that there is a flylady thread.
She encourages random acts of kindness. Which (by the way) is a website.
In one of Martins blogs or musings he told how he was moved to tears (albeit manly ones AFAIR!) because someone had posted in panic about being unable to feed his 3 sons. Someone asked him for an address to send him some vouchers which he pm'd them. They then went online and did a whole weeks grocery shop. This man could not have fed his children without this random act of kindness.
I expect most situations which prompt a charitable response from people is the ones where children are involved. Most parents would go hungry themselves rather than see any child go hungry. Most parents would do anything within their power to stop any child suffering.
Now you must be deeply entrenched within the bosom of your family to not realise that people will act as they wish of their own free will and that any help given is given willingly and with love.
The next thing we will hear is that you have reported our posts for praying with MOT because it is sectarian or reporting people for sending (virtual) hugs to MOT as it could be classed as sexual harrasment.
I think enough has been said on this subject and all I can hope is that MOT had enough money/man power to complete her removal of furniture and that she doesn't damage her already damaged back by sleeping on someones floor.
Would you like to pm whoever is allowing her to sleep on their floor to make sure they know what they are doing?
I must go now as it is late/early.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Hi mumoftwins
HUGS!! HUGS!!!! and milions of hugs.
Life is one amazing and exiting adventure.
Or as John Lennon wrote so much better in one of his songs:-
"Life is what happens to you whilst your busy planning other things"
Very soon you will get to the top of the mountain and the view will be amazing
Another million hugs

OK, enough is enough. I have had countless PM's from people offering their support to me - one even called you all a lynch mob. I am not the only person to have reported this thread either. I have given my reasons for being uncomfortable with the donations, but to no avail.
I have decided to go through the thread, find every post that refers to donations being made and send them to abuse. I will also send the PM received from Italian Tony, that clearly states that he persuaded MOT to accept monetary donations from MSE'ers to pay the deposit and advanced rent.
Abuse can then decide on what, if any, action to take. I will stand by their decision, even if I disagree with it.
You believe we donated money, PROVE IT, I would think you might find that hard to do there are laws protecting us from people looking at our bank statements.
NO ONE ON THIS THREAD DONATED ANY MONEY, WE GAVE TIME, SUPPORT AND SKILLS.0 -
Oh for Gods sake! How many more times do I have to explain to you people? Do you not read this thread?
1) Homeless issues are not being discussed - ergo, no need to go to DT
2) My thread was closed but MSE Andrea said we could come here to discuss MOT - so here we are.
3) I could have started a whole new thread and chose not to.
Understand?
whats up Viktory, have you not been under your SAD lamp long enough?
Be a nice girl and crawl back under it.0 -
