That is good news about the house.

Detached houses do take more heating though, even if you switch some radiators off. You get no insulation from next door, so to speak.

By my calculations (back of an envelope and some internet sites), you would be entitled to a property with 4 rooms. A 4 bed house would probably have 2 reception rooms so would probably be classed (in HB terms) as a 6 roomer. I don't know if HB would then only pay four-sixths of the rent or if they do the calculation a different way.

Thanks for that silvercar - what do you think HB would do please if I go for the house in St A which has 3 bedrooms, bathroom, lounge/diner and a kitchen?

Hi Jillie, telepathy must be going on between us! I had been thinking that I really ought to start a new thread with a title something like 'MOT and twins start of a new life' what do you think?

So far, have joined local library and will join the twins too so that they can use internet there after school for homework. Done a bit of food shopping and spoken to CAP contact who rang and left a message for me yesterday - apparently there is Christian man in HH who has a 4 bed detached house which he would like to offer to the twins and I:T . CAP are speaking to him again today to determine exactly how much rent he would like each month, whether it is furnished or not, and how long the tenancy would be for, then set up a viewing. There may be a problem with HB on this as the accomodation is too big for our needs so they wouldn't pay the full amount that I would be allowed. Explained this to CAP so that they are aware for when they speak to this gentleman.

Have received PTD back on the house in St A and it has valued up at £25 less than the rent that the guy is asking so hopefully should be able to negotiate with him on this. Will wait to speak to I-T first before I ring him - I-T up in Middlesborough on business so back later this pm.

    Hi MOT

Glad to hear things are looking up for you!

Whereabouts in Middlesbrough has IT gone? I know it well as that is where I went to Uni so lived there for 4 years. Long time ago now!
