this is a crying shame but not unusual, local authorities are not stupid and can work out whether a claimant can get legal aid or will have to make a contribution. often applicants pull out at this stage even if they have a good case because of the concern about the cost of legal action. I have seen really rediculous decisions when they know an applicant could not get legal aid to challenge.

Never mind at least you know what you need to concentrate on now, hope you have some good luck soon.

  • I'm glad you feel a bit more secure now, it's about time. It's not a false sense of security, it's the start of a better journey for you, enjoy it !!
I'm glad to hear your thinking of work, I have DS of 3 and have suffered from depression in the past, I love my job ( in a bank:eek: ) I've been off sick since Xmas with a bad back due to go back tomorrow and can't wait. The gossip, the adult company, the companionship it really lifts me when I'm down. Take your time choosing a job thats right for you, it will be the making of you. I'll not be about much due to going back to work and getting married on 17th March !!! But I will pop in from time to time to see how things are going. Anyone can PM me if I can be of any help on the Bank front, info etc. I would love to offer you physical support but I live in Northern Ireland so it would be difficult, but I'll gladly be a cheerleader when times are hard.
Hope all the best for you and your lovely kids and IT of course ( hope the quiz show goes well !)
Remember get plenty of rest, stop feeling guilty, get exercise ( to lift your mood ) and it's ok the accept help & rely on others. We all need it from time to time.
    LOL Karina

Thanks Teeni, but the really sad thing is that the solicitor said that having received the paperwork from DBC (S202) I had a really strong case and that it was very likely that I would win. But then I would have had to go back to review again for them to decide whethe I would be allocated a house, and they could still turn round and say no - so a lot of stress, anxiety and heartache again:confused:

It's a shame but I do think you have made the right decision to end the fight. Its alot of energy that you will have had to put in, maybe energy thats better spent on other things like finding the right house and settling you all in.It must have been so draining for you.
Sleep tight, hope you have renewed energy in the morning!!

So far, have joined local library and will join the twins too so that they can use internet there after school for homework. Done a bit of food shopping and spoken to CAP contact who rang and left a message for me yesterday - apparently there is Christian man in HH who has a 4 bed detached house which he would like to offer to the twins and I:T . CAP are speaking to him again today to determine exactly how much rent he would like each month, whether it is furnished or not, and how long the tenancy would be for, then set up a viewing. There may be a problem with HB on this as the accomodation is too big for our needs so they wouldn't pay the full amount that I would be allowed. Explained this to CAP so that they are aware for when they speak to this gentleman.

Have received PTD back on the house in St A and it has valued up at £25 less than the rent that the guy is asking so hopefully should be able to negotiate with him on this. Will wait to speak to I-T first before I ring him - I-T up in Middlesborough on business so back later this pm.
