And do the rest of us need to know this?? I am assuming that the poster you PM'ed has a pop up box like the rest of us that will tell her that a PM has arrived.

This is all terribly childish and I should advise that I have reported this thread. I, and others on MSE, are very unhappy with monetary donations being given to another member of MSE, both openly and now rather obviously behind PM's now that another MSE'er has mentioned it on my thread. This is even more worrying when you consider that this is the debt free wanabee board - a place where people with debt come for help and advice - but not financial assistance. I personally feel that this is setting a dangerous precedent that could be open to abuse.

On the subject of my thread being closed, I was really pleased to see that MSE Andrea clearly thought the thread had merit and decided, as a one off, to close the thread to further postings, but not to delete it. This is so I could copy and paste into a new thread, if I chose to do so. I decided that there was little point as the attitude from other MSE'ers clearly showed that MOT would come up again as there was a lot of feeling regarding the situation. Of course, should anyone choose to do so, they can always come on here to discuss further, as suggested by MSE Andrea.

That, sadly, is so - should be underway with pms by about 20h.
    Will be done a.s.a.p.
    New text ready, awaiting list.
    Apologies on behalf of ykw.

Didn't see this till AFTER I'd re-sent YKW! Too eager – damn! Can someone PM more details please?
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.

Who says that people are giving monetary donations and if they are what's it to do with you? Are you going short because of this suspected activity?
If you don't like this thread pull your head in and don't read it. There's lots of things I don't like reading about so I don't read them.
It must be really boring reading something like this just to get your heckles up?

  • viktory Have you ever thought that the people who VOLUNTARILY offer what ever support they do (many being in making calls and enquires, web searches and even physical help to hope in the removal of MOT's items) Do this for the children's sakes probably more than for MOT's sake. As a mother I can understand the worry and fear and disruption that the whole situation can be having on the children. What support I give I give as one mother to another who only wants the best for her children.

Oh please! Look at this very thread and you will see, quite clearly that donations were being openly discussed. It went underground (although not terribly deeply) because another poster brought it up on another thread. She was then PM'ed by someone from here and asked to edit her post to remove the references to the donations.

I have told you my concerns in my post. It sets a dangerous precedent and is not what MSE is about. It is a money SAVING forum.

My heckles are firmly down, but I would hate to think that fellows posters were or might be, taken for a ride.

And no, I am not going short of anything - but would not be stupid enough to give my hard earned cash to someone I don't actually know. And please don't tell me that everyone that has made donations knows MOT personally.
  • Thanks for the YKW info Pania and Ampersand, I'm really sorry my bosses have cancelled my leave and I cant get to help you in the flesh (the lads are pretty naffed off too) but good luck with the move tomorrow MoT, I.T and the twins.

It seems that the comments from Viktory are an attempt to hijack this thread and once again get a discussion going about the rights and wrongs of social housing, homeless etc etc.

As far as I am aware, this thread is to give MOT moral support, practical advice, and some actual muscle in helping her move. If you don't wish to do so for whatever reason, I'm sure there are other threads that will welcome your input.

    Pania/Ampersand,

Can you please PM me about YKW....

if others on this thread don't want to know about/object to YKW..

then I suggest they desist from posting...

I really don't know what they seek to gain from their posts!!!

    Thanks in anticipation.

    P.S. Not sure why I didn't get a re-post already!!

I have no interest in discussing social housing etc. at this moment in time, my post is solely in relation to the financial donations. If I can be reassured that this is quite categorically not happening and no money is being given via MSE, then I will happily leave this thread. My concern is and will always be (for the third time), about people giving money to a stranger on a forum that is designed to save money.
