Been searching for private rented again and also rung 3 agents who understand how HB benefit works and have LL's who are happy to accept it. However, still waiting for call back from an agent I rang yesterday who has 3 suitable properties on the market - I did call him again when I got in but he said he was still waiting for the one LL to call him from abroad, so I asked him about the other 2 and he got quite shirty and said he didn't want to waste his time making calls back and forth to me and that he would be making just the one call when this LL finally contacted him! (This LL doesn't have access to internet all time as he is travelling!).

Feeling really p***ed off.

Have you managed to find out what housing benefit you can get? I know if I wanted a 3 bedroom place - I have 2 daughters - that they wouldn't give me full housing benefit as they would say I had 1 bedroom too many.

I guess this has a bearing on the type of property you are looking for.

Sorry to ask but do you have a stop gap if you can't move within the time scales you are being forced to work to?

Much love and :grouphug: xx

Further to Saffronflowers & Gforce saying they are pulling back, I too am taking a break from DFW for a while. Some of you have posted on my thread about this - thank you for your kind words.

I just feel that the "mob" type attitude that was prevailing over the weekend and the dubious nature of some comments in this thread have tarnished what was a valiantly supported situation. Floss xx

I have to say that I understand why all three of you, and probably others, feel the need to 'pull back'. I, too, have been a bit reticent about 'over-posting' because of the negative posts.

It really is a shame when a thread like this attracts the 'trolls' and 'knockers' - I suppose we were a bit more fortunate on the original thread.

People come to forums like this - DFW in particular - when they are, often, at their lowest ebb and need both advice and support - both of which are usually 'in abundance' here, as most of us have suffered what we thought were unsolvable problems - we have found the advice and support that we so badly needed and, as a result, we are usually more than willing to pass that support to others, in the hope that they may avoid those same problems that we have experienced.

This tends to make forums like this 'rich hunting ground' for those who derive some form of sadistic pleasure from the misfortune of people like us. These people are, usually, easily dealt with by clicking the 'abuse' button.
There are, also, the professional 'Trolls' - often placed here by those very organisations who have contributed to our being in the situation that we are. These 'posters' specialise in posting vitriolic comments, designed to cause in-fighting amongst ourselves and divert threads away from their original purpose. These 'trolls' take great delight in 'rubbishing' information that would be helpful to the original poster, and seem to specialise in frightening off 'newbies' as each 'successful' outcome for DFW usually means a 'loss' to the organisations that they represent (and who are possibly even paying them for their disruptive presence on these boards).
Then there are, unfortunately, those who feel that we come to these forums for either 'personal gain' or to 'stick two fingers up at authority'.

In MOT's case, her situation will, inevitably, rattle the feathers of, often completely innocent, posters who have personal interests in the organisations that her thread has highlighted for their inefficiencies and attitude towards people in MOT's situation.

DBC have, throughout, shown themselves as an organisation that is more intent on showing that they have 'adhered to proceedures' rather than 'showing compassion'. This does NOT mean that ALL councils are the same - indeed NOBODY has implied this throughout either of MOT's threads.

Rather than take offence, where none was implied, it would have been far more beneficial for those who felt the need to 'knock' MOT, or those of us who have supported her throughout her unenviable ordeal, to have examined their own consciences and to ask themselves whether a PUBLIC SERVICE ORGANISATION such as DCB was actually performing the Public Service that it is funded to provide. If, as I believe, they are placing Public Accountability above Public Service, then why not highlight this and ask DBC to examine its own principles? At the end of the day a more 'human' approach, if one is needed, would surely be of equal benefit to those who 'administer' it as it would be to those who 'require it'.

To those who feel that certain 'public employees' may have received, from us, a less than equal level of treatment to that given to MOT, by publishing their names - all I can say is that these people are, indeed, public employees and their names/e-mail addresses, by being freely available on their employers' websites, are not compromised by being further published on this, or the previous thread.

Equally MOT's real identity has been openly published, on this forum, since almost the beginning of her first thread.

So Saffronflowers, Gforce and floss2 - you have been monumental in your support of MOT - the advice you have given has been well researched and pertinent - please do not let yourselves be put off by the comments of a few negative posters.

Hi Borgie,

Apparently I can rent a 3 bed place due to the age and gender of the twins, and Vandanfc I have done a HB check on DBC's website to check what I will be able to claim. As for HA lists I did this a few weeks back and there were none with waiting lists - all the main ones in area told me that they allocate all their properties to the council:confused:

I said I wouldn't be posting again but I really want to clarify why I'm withdrawing from this thread. I'm sorry Rog2 but you have misunderstood me; it isn't the negative comments that are the problem here, it's the rabid response to these comments and to the review decision that have made me feel uncomfortable. The bordering on racist remarks in many posts have disgusted me and the general bad mouthing of public sector workers has got my back up.
I could say more but none of it would be relevant to MOT's current position so I will bite my tongue. I will continue to check this thread but this will be my last post.
• How very sad to be reading this now, after all the support that has gone on this thread which is a testament to the DFW ethos, that it has ended up like this. I do understand in a way why it has happened. We all have an opinion. Sadly none of us like the other sides opinion. No matter which way yu look at things. If the SYSTEM works in our favour then they are the best thing since sliced bread. If it goes the other way we see the negative comments. We are all on this site because for the first time there was something or someone out there that for once was not being judgemental about our situations. I am in a mess myself. Through my own doing and i do not know how to get out of this vicious circle. Mainly my mental state of health. I want to post more on this site but i do not feel i deserve any of the help or advise. But i post on other things. And i read read read read. It keeps me from going totally insane and away from the pills. I have done that in the past. Never again, It has been wonderful to see all the support MOT has had. And i hope and pray she can get sorted very very soon. And those who are no longer posting on open forum but are still in contact with MOT via PM then thank you. Sadly when it comes to the system rules are rules. And they cant veer from those rules. My saying is. Rules are for fools to follow and wise men to be guided by.

I realise some comments have been a bit OTT but the 'bordering on racist remarks' are they really or is it fact that if you have an asylum seeker or a MOT needing a home then the asylum seeker will get it. I am generalising but including Jews and Irish is rather provocative to say the least. In my area about 5 years ago there were possibly 5 black people living in the town centre and now probably 1 in 5 is a black person this is not a complaint on my part but they all have a home whereas the same age same dependants born local person or new to the area would they have been housed? I say black person as another generalisation I don't know their personal history they could just as likely be British. I am not trying to make a point these are genuine questions.
Also the 'bad mouthing of some of the public sector workers' from what we have read on here the impression has been given that they were totally immovable they acted imcompetantly and were simply unkind to somebody in a desperate situation. Did any of the officials say kindly 'You will not win but your best bet will be to contact.....' or 'so and so will help you' or similar. They seemed to treat MOT as though she was pulling a fast one and not in genuine need. Maybe this is the usual way but it seems abhorrent to delight in her hardships maybe delight is excessive but they do appear to have lost any compassion. Did anybody say I can see you deserve housing but the guidelines will not permit us to house you. I don't want to keep stirring up all this unpleasantness but when I voted on post of the month I said that there had been no negative comments and now all this where were all these people before the appeal when their comments could have helped???
