we are currently claiming as well with the HSBC and are getting nowhere, we started ours back in october, we are always close to our overdraft limit and nothing has changed since I started our claim.

Hi guys, I successfully claimed back twice on HSBC now and they have paid on both times - before the test case - and I continue to bank with them!

I am currently with HSBC for my current account (which is where charges built up a few years back). About 3 years since I started to put money into an ISA with HSBC and a few months back got there 0% interest credit card for purchases (to use as for a slow stooze).

Now I understand that if I pursue the reclaiming process they are likely to tell me to take my current account elsewhere, but are they likely to tell me to do the same (a) with the ISA? the problem being that I have put the full allocation for this year in an April so would not be able to put into another one. and (b) would they be able to request the full amount back that is currently outstanding on the credit card?

Generally they don't, but if you're concerned, open a parachute a/c elsewhere.

ISA and CC are covered by separate agreements and won't be affected

    Hello everyone,

Just a bit of information that you may or may not find useful re bank charges at HSBC.

Senior Customer Services Officers (typically been at the bank for at least 18 monts) have the authority to refund up to £100 in charges with management authority. Anything over this amount can only be agreed and actioned on the computer system by a manager.

This doesn't prevent lower level Customer Services Officers from asking managers to agree to refunds of any amount. Even though they cannot set the refund themselves they are able to ask for the managers agreement to refund and should log the details of the agreement as a 'note' on your profile on their system.

If you ever visit a branch of HSBC to be told that refunds cannot be authorised in Branch and that you should put your request in writing, this is simply untrue.

    HSBC ACCOUNT

Can I claim back the interest charged for going over my overdraft, as well as the charge itself?

    Thanks

    OK, thanks.
It sounds like I CAN'T claim back the overdraft interest but can claim the actual overdraft charge.

I sent my letter to HSBC asking for statements, I calculated what charges had been added to my account in the last 6 years. I sent the temp letter from this site asking for my money and that I was having financial difculties due to being a single mum and on part-time wage (ever increasing debts, bills etc) you get the picture.

I received a reply yesterday stating that they have put all claims on hold until the court decision was made but they sent me a financial account sheet for me to detail all my income and out goings, even down to hair cost, makeup, pet food you name it, it is on this form. The letter signed of by saying once I have filled it out to phone them and they will see if they can help me by giving me a bigger overdraft or a loan to help me out. OMG:eek: Like I need more debt to pay out.

What do you guys think I should do? Is it worth continuing with this claim now or do I have to wait until the decision has been made? I dont feel I have to tell them my financial history in order to get my money.

    What are your views?
    Many thanks for reading
