Hi.
I reclaimed bank charges from Lloyds and got the full amount at the end of December 2006.
I submitted a claim (to court) against HSBC in the middle of last year then presumed everything had stopped waiting for the outcome of the court case. I got a letter from DG solicitors to this effect as well.
This claim is £400ish of charges with lots of interest (since the charges mounted up when I was on maternity leave back in 2000-2001.
Does anyone know what I should be doing now? Or are we all still waiting to see....?

hi
all still waiting with baited breath for the first round of the court case. no doubt to be followed by a sudden gasp of relief as the courts agree were rite. shorthly followed by another intake and held breath until the first of many appeals.

Hey,
I've had a Student account with HSBC since I started university in Summer 2005, throughout that time, obviously, there has been financial hardship, and I have gone into an unauthourised overdraft. It has NEVER been a problem, I've had small interest charges, but that is it.
In january, a Car Finance payment bounced, and I was charged for it, I just assumed it was the car company, the same thing happned again and once again, I just assumed it was the Finance guys.
Last month I changed Jobs to be able to start paying back my overdraft and get ready for Graduating, and this caused me some financial unrest, meaning that I went into my unauthourised overdraft. Normally, I would not see any issues, and all of my Direct Devits would come out, no problem, then when I got paid, I would cover it straight off.
This time, all of them bounced, and I got charged £25 each time, even though prior to the start of the year I have had no problems. Anyone know why? I've applied to have my charges returned, but I am a little annoyed that I was not informed that this was going to start happening, paticularly when I have been in financial trouble this year.
Thanks in advance for any advice.0 -
Maybe you took advantage of it and they decided to revert to their terms and conditions?
Hope you get them back..BSC Member 155

I have sent off my 'Second Letter' asking for my charges back and I recieved a reply explaining that all the claims were on hold until the end of this OFT case.
OK
The charges I'm claiming equal £2701 and my Current Account with HSBC isn't looking good at the minute because of all these charges. The only way i'd be able to get that Account back to £0 is if I get these charges back...
Should I send HSBC another letter asking that if they're putting my complaint on hold then could they then 'freeze' my account from any money going in or out of it?
Do you think they'll do that? And if they say no, is there anything I can come back with legally?

Hi
I was just looking for a bit of help as i was looking to see if i could claim back some HSBC credit card charges?
I've received copies of my statements and have calculated that over the last six years i have only received charges of £50. Is this worth putting a claim in for? Are HSBC likely to question this small amount?
A problem i have though is i am not too sure what to ask for back? The charges were given to me as follows:
2 x Unpaid DD Fee £5.00
2 x Late Payment Fee £20.00
but I have read that most credit card charges are supposed to be £35 and it is recommended that you just ask for the difference between that and the £12 charge which is now in place for credit card charges.
Any advice would be most appreciated0 -
Does the test case cover arrangement fees voluntarily entered into, I expect not.
What do you think of this-
My wifes elderly and badly confused aunty was charged an arrangement fee of £25 by HSBC for a £50 overdraft facility. Interest on top if utilised of course.
This is despite her having banked with them and their predecessors for nearly 70 years and despite her having a savings account and an isa account with them, with over £20000 sitting in them.
I know any rational person should have told them what to do with their overdraft, and just kept her account in credit by transfering some of her savings account into her curent account, but she is old and old people tend to trust banks.
I know we will get it refunded to her fairly easily but its a bit of an eye opener if this is commonplace.0 -
An arrangement fee is HSBC's newly disguised penalty charge. Reclaim arrangement fees.. And it is most commonplace.0

Hi
I have 2 accounts with HSBC, one is a single account the other is a joint account.
I use the joint account to pay bills and other things and just use my personal account to have my wages paid in to and save money up.
Over the last month or so i've had some bills/debit card payments go out of the joint account which has resulted in the account going over drawn by a few pounds... in most cases I transferd funds from my single account to bring the joint account up the same day or at the latest the next day.
When I checked my online banking a few days ago it said I had charges to due to be added to my account... £125 worth of arrangement fees! (due on the 21st of this month)
I rang the bank and they just said the charges are from going OD and asked if I wanted to apply for an overdraft. (which they turned me down for)
I told them I wasent able to pay the charges this month and was just fed rubbish and was asked if I wanted to apply for creditcards and things!
Anyone know what I can do?
I really can't afford to pay the charges this month so my account will go OD again and i'll have more charges
Thank you
Joseph0
