Spoke to someone at BT about this (Option 3 prices) and they confirmed this should be the case too - that they should drop to £5.95 per month from April and not when the contract ends even if you're mid-contract.0 -

Do you see no problem then in signing up to the "free weekend plan" (former option 1) for a rolling 12 month contract in order to also get the free evening calls.
It's a possible alternative to Primus Saver Option 2 but there are drawbacks:
1. 12 month contract (obviously);
2. No Penny Mobile 2 twenty minute calls/diverts to mobiles for a fixed 20p;
3. Free calls limited to 60 minutes before re-dialling (the Primus limit is 90 minutes).
OTOH, it'd be one less bill so, if that is important to you ......Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
When trying to sign up to the BT Together Option 2 plan ,I can't see the 2 options to either sign up for the 'Rolling Option ' or the 12 month 'Renewable contract ' of which if I understand correctly only the former is free.
If you want to sign up for the free Evening and Weekend calls (Option 2) subject to the rolling (i.e. automatically renewable) 12 month contract, the link you want is https://www.freeevenings.bt.com/
Otherwise, you would pay £3.45 a month (£2.70/month from April 2008) for 'normal the option 2'

Why isn't there a requirement to enter your BT A/C number too?
EDIT. 17:11 - Happily, it doesn't recognise my phone number/postcode!
There's a phone number too 0800 707 6028.
I hope they ask the account number if someone calls.

Sorry, we don’t recognise your details. Please check carefully and try again. If you’re an existing BT customer you can upgrade your calling plan by calling us on 0800 707 6028.
Never knew me either, maybe the system is not up and running.
Not that I wanted to signup, just testing it.0 -
John Dough posted THIS on another forum. It appears to be the definitive version of what'll be happening on 1 April 2008.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. It looks to us that those on the old Option 1 are getting a good deal by just opting for the rolling 12 month contract making them actually Option 2 for free. Where does this leave the present Option 2 customers who still have to pay the monthly fee for the same? Surely they would be better changing to Option 1 and still have the 12 month rolling contract and getting free evening & weekend calls but paying nothing extra for it.
We believe that those on the present Option 2 and Option 3, which we are on, are already on a rolling 12 month contract and have to wait until April for any reduction. Something a little unfair there.0
