Thanks Heinz, correct me if I am wrong but not much for us to change.

Just have to make sure we don't end up on a yearly rolling contract.

Once on a rolling contract how do you get off? Would you have to cease the line and start a new contract or even have to pay for a new connection charge, not that you should but they are getting very crafty.
I[STRIKE]t sort of depends on whether the (free) 'Unlimited Evening & Weekend plan' will retain its per-call limit of an hour or whether it truly will be unlimited. If the latter, it'll beat Primus Saver Option 2's per-call limit of 90 minutes so, for those not needing the 20p for calls of up to 20 minutes to mobiles Penny Mobile 2 add-on, BT would be the winner![/STRIKE] Darn! It'll still be a one hour limit apparently.

As I read it though, if you were to opt to go onto the (free) rolling contract for that plan, you could ALSO have a CPS provider - not that there'd be any point (except as a back-up for your CPS having a system failure).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

The 'free calls' on BT Together Option 2 are still limited to 'up to 60 minutes' each.

Yes, just as if some people forget to currently downgrade their BT options if they choose a CPS provider - though to route calls over BT you would need to prefixc calls with 1280.

    Two observations:

    1) If 'free weekend calls' are coming to BT Option 1 - then that makes qualifying for free Caller Display and 1571 very easy.

    2) Some of the T&C for the free Option 2 for 12 months are (the first one is a bid odd - no upgrading?):
    - Customers may not upgrade to BT Together Option 3, within the 12 month initial minimum period or any renewal period, nor may they downgrade to BT Together Option 1.
    - Customers who qualify for BT Basic may migrate without fulfilling the remainder of their 12 month initial minimum period or any renewal period.
    - Customers moving home and retaining an account with BT will take any remaining initial minimum period or renewal period with them.
    - At the end of the initial minimum period of 12 months or any renewal period, customers wishing to move to a new option may do so by contacting BT. Alternatively, customers will continue to enjoy BT Together Option 2 free of charge with a renewed 12 month commitment.Customers wishing to move to a new option at the end of the initial minimum period or any renewal period may do so by contacting BT
    - Customers who have taken any other BT Together offer and are still in term are excluded from this tariff.
    - At the end of the 12 month initial minimum period this contract will be automatically renewed for a further 12 month period commencing on expiry of the previous minimum period ("renewal date"). If the customer does not wish to renew this contract, the customer must let BT know before the renewal date.
    Regards

  • If the customer exceeds their inclusive minutes do we have any idea of what BT will be charging them.

Sorry for being a bit thick here - how would it make it easier? Surely the weekend calls are now classed as "non-chargable" so they'd have to be made during a weekday (evening or daytime) - or am I missing the point? Someone help me!

'Inclusive calls' on BT Together Option 2 and 3 count towards the 'free' 1571 and Caller Display call requirements.

'non-chargable' means things like 0800 calls.. which are free to the caller.

So it gets better, we could now get free caller display as we may not have to pay for the call.

    Laughs at BT.

I think I will avoid the yearly contract as I hope that O2 will unbundle my exchange and then I may switch to get cheaper broadband.
