We still do not see any source/link for all of this from the OP. We can't find any info on the BT Price changes mentioned. Hope it isn't all just unfounded rambling.
I hope your not suggesting our very helpful resident cheap call expert is posting a lot of rubbish.
I would imagine his source would be a good one.;)
PS: Thanked in error.0 -

I am sure Heinz is posting the info for our benefit and must trust his source.
And even if it does not turn out to be the total truth Heinz has done it in good faith.0 -

BT have informed Ofcom that with effect from the 1st February:
- BT Basic goes up in price to £13.50/quarter from £11.49/quarter. However, the £3 payment processing fee if you do not pay by a direct debit or a monthly payment plan has been removed on this tariff. The tariff also still continues to include an inclusive call allowance of £4.50 per quarter .
There has been no news on any price changes to the BT Together Options.

When are they going to tell the customer?BT have informed Ofcom that with effect from the 1st February:

I must admit I did not follow all that "BT Basic goes up in price to £13.50/quarter" should that be a month?
"However, the £3 payment processing fee" was it not £4.50/Quarter?0 -

No - per quarter"However, the £3 payment processing fee" was it not £4.50/Quarter?
BT Basic is BT's replacement for the Light User scheme.

To be implemented on 1 May 2008, I believe:
(1). BT Together Option 1 to increase from £11/month to £11.75/month. At the moment, this plan allows evening and weekend UK 01/02 calls of up to an hour for 4½p each but unconfirmed rumour has it that, at the same time as the 75p increase, the 4½p per call charge for weekend UK 01/02 calls will be scrapped;
(2). BT Together Option 2 to decrease from £3.45/month to £2.70/month;
(3). BT Together Option 3 to decrease from £7.95/month to £5.95/month.
(4). The paper-free discount to increase from 50p/month to £1.25/month - effectively eliminating the 75p increase for those on BT Together Option 1.
From 1 February:
The originally unconfirmed rumour about weekend UK 01/02 calls becoming free for those on BT Together Option 1 is confirmed.
BT Together Option 2 (which, for £3.45/month, currently offers inclusive evening and weekend UK 01/02 calls of up to an hour) will become a free option for those signing up to it for 12 months.
The price changes (to BT Together Options 2 & 3, to line rental and to paper-free discount) are now part of another tranche of changes due to be implemented on 1 April.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

The above has been notified to Ofcom. As Heinz says its a 12 month contract which after each year will automatically keep renewing for another 12 months (still free) unless you tell BT in advance that you don't want the contract to auto-renew.
but not this (not yet anyway):The originally unconfirmed rumour about weekend UK 01/02 calls becoming free for those on BT Together Option 1 is confirmed.

The 1st April changes will include:
Changes to the names of the BT Together packages to make them more descriptive.
BT Together Option 1 to be called 'The Unlimited Weekend Plan'.
BT Together Option 2 to be called 'The Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan' and, as per the OP, the price will be reduced from £3.45/month to £2.70/month. This is the package which became a free option on 1 February for those agreeing to a 12 month rolling contract.
BT Together Option 3 to be called 'The Unlimited Anytime Plan' and, as per the OP, the price will be reduced from £7.95/month to £5.95/month.
The £5/month International Freedom add-on to be called 'International Saver' and the number of international destinations included will be increased from 35 to 231.
Line rental will increase from £11 per month to £11.75 per month.
Paper-free billing discount will increase from 50p/month to £1.25/month (this will effectively eliminate the line rental increase for those on paper-free billing).
For those who remain on BT Together Option 1, weekday evening UK 01/02 calls will no longer cost 4½p for up to an hour but will be charged at 6p connection plus 1½p/minute (a clear attempt to get people to change to the - free if you opt for a 12 month rolling contract - 'Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan'.
Weekday daytime UK 01/02 calls will increase from 6p connection + 3¼p/minute to 6p connection + 4p/minute.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Thanks Heinz, correct me if I am wrong but not much for us to change.
Just have to make sure we don't end up on a yearly rolling contract.
Once on a rolling contract how do you get off? Would you have to cease the line and start a new contract or even have to pay for a new connection charge, not that you should but they are getting very crafty.
Makes sence now, thought it was option one (The Unlimited Weekend Plan)0
