I presume u r on BT option 1 weekend call plan?

    Yes
Isn't there a requirement to make 1 'chargeable' call to qualify for free weekend calls under option 1 ? Were u charged for those weekend calls?
In theory - but the weekend calls were free for me (and they were the only ones the line was used for)

But you can also join the "BT Together Option – Evening & Weekend Plan" for free you but sign up to a yearly rolling contract.

Yes - BT have announced today that over 150,000 customers have signed up to receive free evening calls in the first two weeks alone..

Does that include Freephone 0500/0800/0808 calls , or must it be a inclusive,or chargeable call.I ask because they use to include Freephone Calls in the qualifying calls to get BT Privacy CLI ,but then they changed it to chargeable calls.

Freephone numbers have never been considered qualifying calls to get BT Privacy CLI.

However, there was a time when BT Privacy was launched that BT never specified how many calls you needed to make and BT didn't charge anyone even if they made no calls.

A BT CS rep told me today, after getting info from her supervisor that free calls that are part of your BT package are considered as "qualifying calls" regarding BT Privacy.

From what I can gather, if you don`t make 1 chargeable call on option 1 a month,BT "reserves the right to put you on their line rental plan" which means you`d be back on the option 1 package as it stood before 1st Feb,when free weekend calls were introduced.

I prefer the old option 1 where you get an hour for 5p weekday evenings and all weekend.

Am I right in assuming the above?

There is a difference between 'inclusive' calls and 'free' calls.

Free calls like 0800 numbers don't count.

However, inclusive calls (i.e. 'free' calls to landlines during the evening or weekend) do seem to count as qualifying calls.

Yes, but as I have said I doubt BT will move many (if any) people onto the old option 1 tariff.

If you want to stay with BT, you are better off signing up to their free evening/weekend call offer which is better than the old option 1 - assuming you can cope with the 12 month contract.

I didn't say 0800 numbers. I said free calls that are part of a BT package and that includes option 3 the 24/7 package. Not just evenings and weekends.

I am confused now, I am on option 1, free unlimited week-end calls. Do I need to make 3/6 chargeable calls to qualify for 1571 or caller display? According to Suni post, no, am I right? Thanks

Presumable with the 1900% price increase for an evening call on option 1 you would have the right to cancel your contract with immediate effect, may be useful for people who are tied in to a high priced contract or have come to the end of the cheap discount period?!

I asked that very question a few weeks ago but no one seemed to know/answer. I was helpfully told to ask BT ...! (and I haven't because I have not been told by BT that my price is rising so cannot say due to official notification).
