Has anyone signed up for the BT 12 month contract Option 2 deal? I signed up, but now when I go to the Calling Plan section on their website, it says I'm on Option 2 and have to pay £13.95 a month. Anyone else had this?
Just to update, I got a letter through the mail on saturday saying I was on the 12 month plan, and a credit of £3.45 would be applied to my account each month for this. So it is still £10.50 a month.
  • I was wondering if anyone with more than one account had experienced this issue? Got the letter regarding the changes on my home phone account, trumpeting the free weekend calls and offering the free evening calls too. The letter for the other account was identical except that it didn't include any reference to the free evening calls offer.

Does that mean I can't get the free evening calls on the other line? It's my mum's phone but it's just remained in my name from when I was still at home. If anything, I'd be more inclined to have her sign up to the 12 month deal than me as she won't be keen on using CPS etc.

No, you can sign up to the free evening calls on your mums line if you want.

BT try and send 'targeted' letters depending on the information they hold about a line. (i.e. usage data/ are you a broadband customer etc.)

I actually got 3 letters for my 2 lines and for the line which I got two of the letters - each letter was different (though the attached leaflet with the full details was the same)

    Regards

Am I missing a trick here?

I have a BT line but use Primus for free evening and weekend calls. I use 18185 et al for day calls. I can see no point in 'joining' BTs' weekend tariff?

    Or am I missing something?

    Cheers

to be honest not many customers will use the weekend tariff . If they are with BT they will move to the free E&W calls on a 12 month contract ,This keeps them as a BT customer .

From what I can gather,if you`re on option 1 at the moment, then from 1st April BT are moving you onto "free weekend package".
Not a question of joining, they are putting you on it.

But you can also join the "BT Together Option – Evening & Weekend Plan" for free you but sign up to a yearly rolling contract.

Or at least that is what I think.

Phone services and calling plan changes

    Maybe not:
From 1st April 2008, the price of the ‘Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan’ (formerly called ‘BT Together Option 2’) will reduce from £3.45 per month to £2.70 per month. The new total price of £13.20 includes £10.50* for line rental.
From 1st April 2008, the price of the ‘Unlimited Anytime Plan’ (formerly called
‘BT Together Option 3’) will reduce from £7.95 per month to £5.95 per month.
The new total price of £16.45 includes £10.50* for line rental.

Depends what you are paying 18185. In my case I have been paying around £9/month to them so I see it as beneficial to me to go on option3 at £5.95/month. In fact I changed 3weeks ago at £7.95 knowing that it would be reducing in April. The handful of mobiles that we ring are in the phones directory still preceded by 18185.

Just to be sure can any one confirm that calls to mobiles and other services like call back will be priced as now?

Wholesale, Openreach, who gives a f****g f**k. It's all BT.

I don't know what your experience is of not being a BT customer, so "in my experience" doesn't tell me much. Have you ever actually been at the receiving end of BT Wholesale, sorry Openreach, prioritisation?

If you pay extra for something, eg a paper bill, than you would pay without it, then that's a charge in my book. But if you want to call it a discount, be my guest. Why not take up part-time work spinning for the Government?

Why not visit the Scams forum, (go South in the menu), find the BT thread, and give them the benefit of your knowldge about BT?

maybe if you understood the difference between bt wholesale and openreach might allow you to make a coherent argument.
how in your opinion does each bt division prioritise 'bt' tasks ahead of other telco's tasks ?
