Update on the holiday front - we wont lose the £365 deposit if we change the holiday dates or destination!

So we are going to find the cheapest holiday possible to a warm place during teh 2 weeks we have booked - looking at about £600 so we only have to pay an extra £200 or so on top - woohoo Gran Canaria here we come I think!!

Excellent news - I felt for you when you thought you had to cancel it. Sometimes it helps to know you've got a break coming up.

Does this mean you'll be baby-dancing in gran canaria now???

    Hello all

Cocked up a bit yesterday - DS2 should have gone to pre-school as it finished today. However, there were 5 kids missing and I think it's because they had a strangely worded notice on the door last week, making it sound as if they finished last Friday. Trouble is - that's a fiver wasted .... boo hoo. Never mind, he went to the party this morning so I did get a couple of hours to rush madly around town.

Bought lots of lovely fruit and veg off the market as well as some juicy chicken goujons which I will make into nuggets. May make a moussaka too as I have an aubergine in the fridge, but will see if Mr TM is eating at home tonight - he's going to a leaving do then he goes away tomorrow. (He'll be here 3 days over the whole summer hols!! - good job I'm used to doing my 'single mum' bit :))

Breadmaker is on. I'm trialling the strong bread flour versus the plain flour loaf at the moment - it's a plain flour loaf in there currently.

Have to pick DS1 up from school in a few minutes, then home for some cleaning etc. It's not really a nice day here today. Very windy and cool, so I've still got my jacket on. :(

    Catchya all later. :D

does anyone know if victoria sponges freeze well; I tend to make them a couple of days before I need them (due to having no time...) and they can be a bit stale by then. If you have any tips for keeping them moist and nummy those'd be greatfully recieved too :D (I think I maybe need to invest in some tins, rather than plastic boxes?)
According to a thread I recently added to the MEGA Index - yes :)

Look in the Cookery section under "baking" (I think - baking for the freezer?) or perhaps under "freezing".

    They're all a blur now... :)

    1000 ish and counting!

Nikki: I understand that the Tate do a lot of children's things........ does liverpool have an equivalent of manchester's city life with all the event listing in? anywhere you can think of that has loads of brambles - the blackberry picking season beckons..........

Pozalina: "baby dancing" - that's a new one. it's referred to as "the horizontal mambo" in our house :D

Moggins: All men are donkeys when it comes to money (apart from the ones who are on here who aren't) - and I apologise to the donkeys as well.

Oh, NIKKI, just remembered, there's a donkey sanctuary in Manchester which has open days - I'll dig out the info and PM you - or i think the website is The Elisabeth Svendensen Donkey Sanctuary - you should be able to find it if I can't find the stuff.......

nicki - what about Formby Red Squirrel Reserve? I'm intending to go there over the summer as I love the little red blighters and I've only recently been told about it. My boys haven't ever seen a red squirrel, although they like the grey ones in the garden.

    Mmmmm...... sponge cakes......

We are going shopping for a new fridge at the weekend. Ours was a 2nd hand reconditioned one that was a kind gift from my parents (an early 21st too) when we moved from an unfurnished flat (aka "the hovel") into our unfurnished flat but it is dynig a death. Its cooler outside the fridge than in it im sure.

    heh.

Luckily OH gets discount with Bosch so we can get a very good one for the same price as a super cheap one.
  • Hiya Pozalina - will definitly be baby-dancing somewhere warm and probably somewhere in the Canaries, as it will be the warmest cheap place in October!

    Hello everyone

Love baby dancing and horizontal mambo, never heard either of those... bless me :A

But having a bad day today, went to work but had to come home again as I was in major Gallstone agony, took my super strength painkillers (which I never do) went home a bit later when I was feeling less like being violently sick and on the train on the way home I had more really bad pain and phoned doctors surgery in utter distress!

So at home now, feeling bit better, sitting down enjoying everyone's posts and going to doctors in a bit. feel totally drained.

Apprentice tycoon, my post on Monday's thread, I honestly thought it was tuesday, when I was going to bed a little later I remembered but I really am a totally natural blonde, through and through, it is becoming my favourite excuse! Perhaps I should just concentrate more! :D

My breadmaker is making pizza dough at the moment as I have just got back from Tesco .

Got some lovely tops for my daughter and for a birthday present for a party later this week for £2 each - also got two vest tops which should have been £2.25 for 99p each - need something to wear under bargain low cut tops so I do not frighten the populace!

Pizza topping is cooking in microwave and DD has baked a choc buttercream cake which I will try valiantly to resist!
