I've been picking bird cherries off our tree this morning. Some of them are almost normal cherry size.Im going to get some sugar tommorow and make jam.
We are stuck in the house this afternoon waiting for Comet to deliver a new fridge. The old one was 19 years old and just doesn't get properly cold anymore. The new one will be without an icebox(we never used the icebox in the old one and it was always just wasted space).
I planted 2 rows of Dwarf french beans yesterday from a packet I got for 45p in Wilkinsons(75% off).My potato plants are coming along nicely too(Planted some that had sprouted in the bag).0 -
Can you use bird cherries? I've got a cherry tree in the garden that I planted the stone of when I was about 6 with my Dad - 33 years later and it fruits but I thought we couldn't eat them. Does this mean I have to fight the birdies and squirriels for them? :j or should i just leave those considering i have a large apple tree (bakers) and a damson tree both of which are completely laden................... :ABut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. I want to read them in a certain order i.e. the longest waiting list at the library!!! OH tried to tell me the outcome today "do you want to know...." i told him it was no use as the first thing I did was read the last two paragaphs so i knew who was there etc......... ha! foiled!!!!But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Morning all, I've spent most of it in a meeting with my son's new school and special needs teachers. They are lovely people and I think he's going to do really well there. On a money side I have just spent over £100 on school uniform in the last few days and that's just the stuff from the schools. I still have to get shirts, trousers, skirts and shoes.
Ex-dh took son to get his sports kit and the idiot spent nearly £100!! I could have got everything for half that price. He bought him Nike rugby boots, Reebok trainers, Nike shorts and Umbro t-shirts!! What a waste, he will have trashed it within 5 minutes and is not a label freak anyway, I've brought my kids up to appreciate what a cop-out the labels game is.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I'm suffering from hayfever terribly so feeling mizz and not up to posting much
not a newbie now: but still be gentle with me0 -
OH has phoned Kwik Fit to book the car in for a service - It's hit 99000 miles so it's a biggie service. Its going to cost £135! I don't know what that includes but it's put pay to my trip ideas over the next two weeks when OH is off work - DD is not happy at not going to Chester Zoo, but the new-and-improved Liverpool World Museum should keep all 3 of us entertained for a day, which reminds me I need to dig out the tourist attractions booklet I picked up last week. I may have lived here all my life but I still haven't seen it all
I wonder what other free days out I can muster up? Parks and museums here we come!
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
afternoon all.
not so O/s or MSE for me today as my Fridgefreezer's sounding like it's on its way out... it's very aged so it's not that big a surpise and I'm looking at well rated low consumption models to replace it asap before it actually dies a death...
does anyone know if victoria sponges freeze well; I tend to make them a couple of days before I need them (due to having no time...) and they can be a bit stale by then. If you have any tips for keeping them moist and nummy those'd be greatfully recieved too(I think I maybe need to invest in some tins, rather than plastic boxes?)
Hugs to all as wants em and chocolate muffins tooPre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0
