Morning all from Taunton! :hello:
Ancasta I am sooo happy that you and OH are patching things up !!!!{hugs}}}
As for me last night, I too was in bed very early at about 9.30 - had to record Bad Gairls - I hate it when they do those 90 minute episodes - I have no hope whatsoever of staying awake until 10.30!
Made homemade spag bol last night - delicious! Made a double portion to use up the mince in the fridge so now have 2 generous portions squeezed into the already bulging freezer - thank goodness for larder freezers, as I would never reach the bottom if it was all in a chest freezer!
Nothing very OS for me today as am at work - very busy period for me at the moment with a real deadline coming up tomorrow so this will probably be my last day on the board until after the weekend.
Have to go and cancel the holiday today - grrrr - ah well- these things are sent to try us!
Got something like frozen fish portions and 98% fat free noodles for teas - OH will have his with chips and peas but as I am on weight watchers I cant justify the chips if I want a glass of wine later - priorities!!!
have a fab morning all and speak soon.Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0 -
My turn to have a bad day
- I over slept by 30 minutes due to about a weeks worth of disturbed sleep. Roll on Saturday when I can start having a lie-in since DD doesn't break up until Friday.
- Its raining so I've had to put my hiking boots on so that I don't slip on the wet pavements. One ankle is already aching from the weight of them but I'd rather have an aching ankle than slip and land on my backside in the rain!
- My hairdye hasn't come out the proper colour. It's more brown than red so I'll have to give it another good wash to see if its just a build up of dye or conditioner. One good thing is that my head isn't as itchy as it has been (not nits/lice, I have a really flaky scalp which I can't get rid off even with medicated shampoo but it's improved greatly when I dye my hair
)
- Made up DD breakfast and as I went to pour her a cup of milk I got a whiff of the milk which had gone off  Had to give her a cup of cordial and homemade-bread toast so I now have to bake more bread today when I don't have a breadmaker. I wouldn't mind so much if OH hadn't of used the milk in his coffee and not noticed that the milk was off.
- Saw OH off to work only for him to return less than 5 minutes later as the brakes on the car were dodgy and he wasn't prepared to drive the car to work in the rain so he needed to get the train. This I can understand but it's all the stuff that goes along with this decision that makes me mad
- I've been telling OH that there was a leak on the car (oily) for about 2 months but he just kept putting off taking it to Kwik Fit for repairs no matter how much I nagged him
- The car needs more repairs. It's already cost us £270 this year in repairs and that doesn't include the £250 we paid out on the credit card but got back from the insurance company
- Instead of going to the cash machine which is 5 minutes around the corner if that, he's taken £10 housekeeping which means I now have £1 in my purse and no money in my bank account to draw on due to bill commitments so shopping will have to wait again
- He left for work in the car and came back, then he left again on foot taking the umbrella instead of a coat which means I now have to wear my coat (which desperately needs washing but I can't due to no washing machine) then he came back as he left his wallet and PDA here
- We still haven't been contacted by Comet about our washing machine. Standard Delivery is supposed to be 5-7 days (including weekends) but they haven't even rang me to ask about a delivery date and we ordered on Saturday night!

I was going to say "Jeeze! It never rains but it pours!" and then I thought, "Perhaps I'd better not!"
I thought troubles were only supposed to come in threes.

Thanks sqeaky that made me smile.
I'm just so frustrated ATM I just want to destroy something. The temptation to take a bar of somekind and smash the car windows and generally cause some serious damage to it is great. To strangle/hit OH is also extremely tempting. Did I mention that everytime next door has "relations" we can hear every moan and "Yes!!!!!" so that's not helping me sleep  I feel like nothing is going right for me lately. Poor DD got it this morning when she was messing about instead of getting ready for school. Poor thing, she was in tears because I was shouting at her.I didn't mean it but her messing around was the final straw but I managed to keep my head enough not to want to smack her bottom like she gets when shes been REALLY naughty. I don't believe in physically punishing a child unless the "crime" deserves it - like breaking something really really valuable - she usually gets a time out but I knew that it was mostly me being worked up that was making a mountain out of a molehill so I just shouted at her instead
. Sometimes I wish I was back at uni with no problems/responsibilities/worries, income of £100 a week and pub that opened at 11.30 down the road if needed. :rotfl:
Oh well, off to try and sort the budget out to see if we can get the debts paid off any quicker and get a new car :rolleyes:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Well yesterday I got antibiotics for a bite on my arm which I got 10 days ago and it's ballooned up to twice it's size and makes my arm ache and my fingers a bit stiff/numb. Allergic to penicillin (i would be  ) and so got given the max dose of something else. trouble is i'm one of those people that a/bs knock for six - did nothing but sleep from about 4 yesterday (of course woke up for dinner made by OH - savoury mince and oven chips and watched Most Haunted). Now just keeping the stiff fingers crossed for that job!!! OH made me breakfast (my toast) as well this a.m. as I was a bit disorientated shall we say. today is a ful day at work - boo!!!! but at least the arm isn't itching as much as it was the other night when i had to go and stick it in the shower to get some relief.
I have also been reading the e-bay/amazon threads as well and am inspired. might put the craft books on amazon instead of e-bay and the magazines on e-bay. I even went for a wander into the charity shops yesterday after work on my way home - some of them are getting a bit less inexpensive. i suppose i shouldn't grumble but now that i am getting OS'd up I want everything cheaper!!!!
haven't got a clue what to have for dinner tonight but at least farmfoods has re-opened locally (they had a fire) - i was feeling quite panicky without it!
OH has also finished HP so I can carry on from page 168 when he snaffled it off me. trouble is i am now trundling through The Da Vinci Code!!!! Also will be getting paid tonight for the typing of an interview I did for one of my mates - so that's £85!!!!!!! plus some medical work I've done - grand total coming my way tonight - £109!!!!!!!! trip to the post office tomorrow!!
MOAN TIME: For anyone else who has a Co-op ISA I recently got a letter and forget to mention it on here - you can no longer pay in cash at the post office - only cheques. They will accept cash at your local Co-op bank branch (mine's in the centre of manchester and I pay my copper and 20ps in - can't spend them I come out in hives!!!!). Not a happy bunny................
Okay best get on with my work then...................But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Ooh, Rage, sorry to hear about your arm giving you so much grief. Glad to hear it's getting better though!
Nicki, it's not right that so much can go wrong before 8:51am!!! But I know, some mornings are like that. Some days I arrive at work frowning, and then it can only really go downhill! Would you consider joining in with the "Yes!!"'s coming from next door? You have to have a bit of nerve, and I'm not sure I do, but how nice to be able to stick your head out the window and join in the shouting, you and Hubby! May make them a little more conscious of their racket!
On the scalp issue, my OH finds that a good dousing of olive oil periodically, overnight if pos, then rinsed out, gives some relief; and also, he swears by lemon juice, which I would be a bit wary of due to its harshness. However, he says it stops the itching and flaking if he uses that periodically. But this is the guy who USED to use washing up liquid on his hair once upon a time, and didn't think that was too harsh, either!
Ancasta, glad you're having a better day today.
I made some liquid soap last night, from odd shaped bits of vegetable soap I bought from a natural soap place months ago. Wasn't a huge succcess...the melting in a bowl over water didn't work, so in the end I put the whole lot (grated soap and water) into the aluminium pan (is aluminium a bad idea for this, I couldn't remember?), and tried to boil it away. Well, it's not keen on melting or boiling, is it?!!! Eventually it turned white and frofthy and I whisked it with a fork as it cooled. I added EO's, but my tea tree came out rather fiercely and made the whole thing smell a bit like emulsion paint. I had to be quite heavy on the grapefruit and orange to mask that smell...I think I'll stick to buying bars of soap for the kitchen! But hopefully this will make unusable soap useable. Today the mixture seems to have separated into stiff white bubbles and a yellowy liquid, which I can't tell yet whether it's liquid soap, or just the water returning to its natural state.
I should have followed some instructions!...0 -

Ooooh, HP v The Da Vinci Code is a tricky one. Have you read Angels and Demons? Managed to get that one out of the way before HP arrived
Nicki Hope your day improves.
We had a bbq last night with two of our friends. I can't believe how much washing up 4 people create! I started it last night, carried on this morning and am now having a little break.
Going out for lunch with some friends from my PGCE course. They've both got jobs, and I'm the one who hasn't(out of the 3 of us). Ah well, they've just been able to con people/working in interesting areas of the country!
This evening, OH and I will be tucking into fish cakes (yellow sticker), potatoes (given to us by parents' neighbours) and salad (left over from last night). Pretty excellent, I'm pleased with myself!
Best go. Have a good day everyone.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

I have tried to work and old style angle around this but I can't.
I'm just going to have to shamlessly brag -
My son won a silver medal for rowing (mens coxless 4's) at the National Championships at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham yesterday...and I'm so proud
There - I've done it now.
Back to old style - we took a picnic, squash & water, etc but not enough and ended up paying £6.00 for 4 bottles of squash out of a machine, I didn't know that they cost that much! I'm really out of touch - but it was VERY chilled and it was almost worth the money just to have an icy drink, the weather was (to us sun whimps) dreadful
Today is an ebay packing day, housework day and catch-up on neglected jobs day0 -
Update on the holiday front - we wont lose the £365 deposit if we change the holiday dates or destination!
So we are going to find the cheapest holiday possible to a warm place during teh 2 weeks we have booked - looking at about £600 so we only have to pay an extra £200 or so on top - woohoo Gran Canaria here we come I think!!Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0
