Anyway, I've been thinking about Christmas this morning (don't shoot me!), and reading back over last year's Christmas threads here. I was on the verge of starting an OS Christmas thread, to be ongoing over the months for us to add to as we start on our preparations - when we start making cards / each gift we've completed / christmas cake soaking etc etc (like an OS Christmas support group!)...but I thought I may get threown out of the forum for saying the C-word in July...Perhaps I should just keep it to myself for now, and start my planning quietly...til at least October?!...
Shot at dawn with no reprieve, hung drawn and quartered and then fed to the stray cats! C-word in JULY!! Sheesh!

    Nah... :)

Go for it. I know my mum's Christmas cake is already made and being given the odd drink... people here have gift boxes tucked in dark corners - cards and presents are often bought in the January sales and stashed away...

    ..so why not? :)

Honey – sounds like a busy w/e for you – I’ve always fancied strawberry picking – are you jamming?

MrsMW – sorry to hear about your dog – hope that the medication works.

Old style activities in our household are sometimes slightly hampered by FT paid work, and being plaything of a 17mo old. Indeed, the most OS I’ve been this morning is opening the patio doors to air downstairs! Can’t even report on vinegar usage in my load of laundry, as oh got to it first with liberal amounts of fabric conditioner, although it will go outside to dry!

No, seriously, can’t tell you how calmer and “under control” things feel following the Grocery Challenge, and the buzz you get when you can see all the little savings mount up in the PMS savings challenge.

Hope you ALL have great weekends! Take care.

    I've been Money Tipped!
r.mac - Wow Coldplay - have a great time tonight!

Nicki - I saw Starlight express a few years ago and it was fab! Enjoy yourself!

Loadsabob - I think a Christmas support thread is a great idea. Just think how unstressed and smug we could all be by December cos our Christmas is sorted!

Rage - Hope you are resting that ankle when you can.

Hope everyone is having a lovely os day. Mine got off to a slow start but I am hoping to support some local fundraising today and get some lovely Hardy Hisbiscus plants for a few friends as pressies for being so supportive recently. Got to take daughter into work first and later on come home and make up something for the snack tin as dd and oh eating me out of house and home

Still cutting up curtains etc., for future patchwork project. Off to get some lettuce in for my lunch now, can't remember but think I planted Webbs lettuce and it is lovely.
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I'm very excited. Actually more like a small child who has eaten a whole tube of blue smarties!!!! :rotfl:

r.mac - Made me giggle :rotfl:Have a wonderful time tonight.

omega - Strawberry picking is lots of fun. We normally just eat them plain - jam making sounds a bit scary . The friends we are going with intend to pick enough to make jam though - maybe I should offer to *test* their finished product?! ;)

I'm really pleased to hear how well the grocery and pin challanges are working for you.

Thanks to all of you for encouraging me in my Christmas thread - I've done it! Looking forward to sharing our progress...and yes, I love the idea that we'll all be un-stressed and smug in December, chilling out with our wine, HM cakes and notebooks, while all around us are flapping and burning plastic!

    Bah humbug!!!

I don't really mind christmas and I think that the thread will probably help to keep me organised! :D

Only thing is that from the 20th November to 20th Jan I have 5 birthdays (family!) aswell as christmas!.... seems to go so quick, always someone I have forgotten to send a card to!

Last year I did manage to send out some cards, after buying the cards almost two years previously! :rotfl:

    Kippsy,

ooh, that's ALL you need at that time of year! Isn't it odd how birthday's cluster for people? We all seem to have hotspot months. I have about ten in May and June...the rest of the year is fairly well spaced, but those two months are crazy! (including a couple of friends and their new baby all in the same week!!!!)

I'm an August baby - we're the products of long dark Winter evenings with nothing good on the telly!
