    I've been Money Tipped!
Just back in and managed to get 6 hardy hibiscus plants for £3 so 50p each, also picked up some books (got to hide these from oh as I have too many :shhh:)
Got Nigel Slaters Real Fast Food for 50p  also a basic home freezing handbook (for my glut of home grown fruit and veg - well I can dream!) and a sweet little book about making beads and bangles which will be great for the kids I work with or even just for me ;) both for 25p so a successful day in that I've got some pressies, some treats and the pennies I spent went to a local charity.

Haven't done much else tho!

Culpepper: Well done to DS! We also home educate & DS1 went to college (with no GCSEs & is now an electroncs engineer, but you do sometimes need to get past some people with prejudices, don't you!
Did you have to pay for adult ed, or did he do GCSEs post 16?

No ,we had to fork out for the adult ed.about £ 140 for each GCSE (he took 3) and £300 for his city in guilds in computer programming. The LEA were just not interested in him despite their being supposed to fund GCSE's for anyone of school age .He was 16 last october but because he started his courses in september ,he was not 'old enough' to qualify for the free further education the adult ed provide for 16-19 YOLDS.
The sixth form college where he has just enrolled has also said that my DD (15) will be welcome when she wants to do her A levels wether she has taken GCSE's or not ,so that is a relief :)

    Hi Peeps,

Have been on my dring test today, but sadly didn't pass this time:( . Never mind, there is a nice bottle of red wine waiting for me in the kitchen. Will need to start more money saving so I can go back in for in August.

Other than that, I've had a lazy day. Took DS into town to pay the bills, and he has been very well behaved (which was a nice surprise). He is definately teething, so out comes the Calpol :D. It has been very wet all day, so will have to put washing in my dryer later.

Forgot to say, thanks Queenie for your receipe yesterday. I made them for my DH, and they went down really well. The only thing I forgot to do was put the baking powder in. Never mind, DH has nearly eaten them all!

    Thanks again:T

Well, we had a really nice day at the home ed group. First Aid course in the morning, then tennis coaching in the afternoon (for the kids, anyway - mums got nice chat time!)
Got home, started to look on here, then power cut! DH & DS gone to get fish & chips for dinner - so not very OS! But now they've gone, power is back on.
I have finally sealed the conservatory floor, so hopefully the tiling can get started tomorrow!

    Hi all

Not a bad OS day today.

This morning we (df & I) planted some veggies in my front garden: Borlotti beans, sweetcorn, courgette, pumpkin, squashes & Kale

Then this afternoon I have been sat with a brew, making out my meal plan for the next week, so that when I go to the farmers market on Sunday I can get what I need.

Was looking on one of the other threads about rationing - might have to give it a go for a week or 2, just to see if I can do it.

Culpepper & Chips: Well done on you home schooling. I will be considering that route if the local schools don't "pull themselves together" Actually, I was VERY poorly as a 7year old (tumour on inner ear and bearing it was the 1970s heavens knows how i survied). Anyway, Mum taught me to read and write as I was off school for a whole year and Dad taught me maths (he was a chartered accountant -ooohhhh posh ;) !). I still have all the books she used and the exercise books I filled. I remember her teaching me an "r" - she had been taught how to write in copperplate and I just couldn't get hold of it at all........ Went back to school in time for the end of year exams and came 16 out of 32 and teacher told Mum she expected better - Mum hit the roof................. :rotfl: her and that teacher never spoke again :rotfl:

VickyA: cannons and fireworks eh? Do they keep livestock? Will they be scared by the noises? Could you take a bucket to fill for the garden? Just a thought...... :D

Can I just also say OH and I have been SHOPPING!!!! M&S outlet - got a load of their bath stuff (lavender, peony that sort of thing) £1 each!!! so that's the emergency presents taken care of. OH got 2 pairs of shoes as well - one from M&S for 50% off and one from Pavers for 35% off. Also got some soaps from the continental market - well my foot needs a treat (although Pizza Express was enough of one really :o )......... Still we don't need to eat until tomorrow now................. right i'm off to settle for CSI. :p
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D
