Oh Margaret fantastic! 3 acres - do you plan to grown your own etc?Enjoying an MSE OS life0

My Saturday is quite quiet at the moment.
Just had a cup of tea to kick start the morning. OH has gone to watch the rugby at a friend's house whilst I'm resigned to listening to the coverage on the radio (very moneysaving as we don't have Sky, just pop round to other people's houses!). He's got strict instructions to pick up a newspaper on his way back (using one of my student vouchers to get 75p off!).
I need to go to the butcher's so that I can make a vat of bolognese sauce to put in the freezer. Oh, and the ironing will need doing too - probably do that in front of "Saturday Kitchen"!Not that I'm always thinking of food, you understand........
Tonight we're going to a celebration of the Battle of Trafalgar at a stately home where they've got classical music and fireworks. We're going with OH's family, so they'll be doing the picnic and we don't have to pay for the tickets as they are paying for us as part of OH's 30th birthday present. Quite a cheap day really! All we'll have to take are a couple of bottles of wine that I got in Tesco's last wine sale!

Morning:j
Well, Mr TM is back, so I can let him take the boys for the dayI have a mystery shopping job to do later - I've combined this one with the need to visit a particular curtain shop and my mum so I'll get my petrol and parking paid
Will be doing some of mum's cleaning today instead of monday as it's DS1's sports day on Monday afternoon, so I'll have to go and cheer him on (and ogle the lovely deputy head  )
Other than that, I need to do some washing and kitchen cleaning. We can have an eat up day from the fridge too. Must remember to measure ALL the windows I want curtains for and try and get to the sewing machine which is hidden somewhere in the depths of the attic.
Off to finish my hot water and lemon0 -
Hope I will survive my saturday. Already had a car crash this morning (well a toy car being driven on a wall that came crashing into big sis's chin...)
Need to do the shopping with 3 kids in tow.... (OH is away until Sunday).
Half promised before that we would "DO" something as well, but first pass at what's on in cinema nearby came very unsuccesful. Why does Madagascar only start in 2 weeks!!!
Well, maybe just rent a movie from the library. FOr the reward AFTER tidying up the house to surprise Daddy tomorrow. Would be good to give him a small shock. We CAN do it.
Oh well, good intentions, that's always a start.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
A quieter day in the MATH house today. Kidz off to gym and then onto Gran's:j Mrs MATH off with sis and all out to a treasure hunt 'n' supper tonight so no cooking and washing already done.
Queenie - Have a great day out. You've earned a bit of fun.
BS1970 - My kidz don't finish school for another couple of weeks yet but when they do we're off to the seaside for 6 weeks:j
Apple Mint - Pottering days are just the best and often the days where you get so much you didn't plan on done. Have a good one.
Margaret - WOW how exciting. A woman of substance eh. Thinking of you flying up and down the country with a clutch of mobile phones is bringing images of Aneka Rice to mindHave a good one.
Vicky A - Your night out sounds great. I used to go to a last night of the proms type thing where you took a picnic and ate it in the grounds of a stately home. By unwritten law the picninc had to be served on best china, with crystal glasses and silver flatware and you hade to wear full evening dress. It was great. Hope the rain holds off for you tonight.
TM - You know no shame. All heads (deputy or otherwise) have breathn that would strip paint from a blackboard. It's one of the necessary qualifications needed! Stick with MR TM and least you can get him to put his shoes on he he eh. Enjoy your day
Mado - Shopping on a Saturday with three kidz. You have my sympathy:DLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

Hi apple_mint,
Indeed, we have always grown all our own veg. I grew up in the highlands where that was the way of life. Even when we lived down south, we bought a house in Essex with a 150' back garden beautifully landscaped and all tghe flowers and plants came up to make room for the root veg. at first. People couldn't understand our attitude
they thought we spoilt the look of our garden, but they always gratefully accepted the fresh veg. that we gave them!!!!!!

OH is doing his first wedding drive today - good job we got those new shoes yesterday!!! Whilst he is out I may bake but as I have promised him spag bol tonight I may just prepare so the baking can go in when the garlic bread is being done (never, ever, ever put the oven on for one item - I despair at MIL who puts the oven on just to warm plates!!! OH and I run them under a hot tap whilst filling the washing up bowl. I digress). The library have got my turkey guide in (we're planning to go over there ourselves to see the eclipse and not pay the outrageous rates that tour companies are charging) so i may collect that. trouble is this will mean walking on my foot so i may leave it....... it aches after yesterdays session. otherwise i will be creating an inventory of the freezer and pantry, no washing to be done so that's a job less, hoovering the budgie (not him but his house
), surfing for bargains/cheap flights to turkey next year and sewing. Also there is a crime marathon on Hallmark - I'm not watchin Live8 as I am very annoyed with Bob and Midge (which I have told him by e-mail - some of us just have these things
!) for picking the same day as the Make Poverty History march in Edinburgh - which i would have been on. Besides I am fed up of people just talking about the concert and how it's free and a great line up - that is NOT the point!!!!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -

Ah, but MATH, the deputy head is gorgeous - 30ish, tall, dark hair, slim athletic and sooooo good looking. As for the breath - not been that close, but I do know having worked with someone with breath that would kill a donkey at 20 paces, he aint got itWe mums have to have something to look at in the playground waiting for the whistle to blow.
As for Mr TM - he is a teacher! He's only been teaching a couple of years, so the ranks of dep head await him. Of course, then I will dutifully ogle him (does that still work after many years of marriage ?)
However, have to get Mr TM to keep a note of ALL money spent. I tried to do a budget the other day, but I've no idea how much we spend on food, averaged out monthly as it's so sporadic. And Mr TM and his spending habits are a law unto themselves (he uses those pay to use cash machines! I would rather go hungry) Oh well, at least I sorted out his mobile yesterday - got a great deal.

Brilliant Margaret. We are digging up our back garden and growing fresh veg (we are only learners though) Ultimately we would love to live out in the country - somewhere with a big kitchen and a large garden. You seem to be getting your dream
Enjoying an MSE OS life0
