  • Morning Guys!

Feeling really fed up and frustrated this morning. Had to ask OH to help me out of bed, to the stairlift and he's going to help me have a shower in a while:o ....just ignore me...Im having a "why me?" day:rolleyes:

FIL is still in hospital. It wasnt broken, but had torn ligaments (sp) and twisted other knee, so cant walk at all. They have 6 kids and none except OH seem to be helping out etc. Im glad he is in there as he can rest up. He is taken for granted by some of his kids whom think he is a FT babysitter. OH has gone to drop off some clothes for him and his mum hadnt even put in washing stuff or clean pants, so OH added a wash bag, a book to read, a packet of biccies, some tissues and a pair of pants, but dont think they will fit:confused:

DD was told yesterday that she has a guaranteed place in Art if she takes this as an option next year. She had an average score of 98% since she started their in 2006. She loves Art though along with animals:D She has also asked about doing a paper round and she has contacted the local weekly paper to ask about vacancies. Does anyone know what they pay these days:confused:

WM is on, DW has been emptied and toilet cleaned. Dinner tonight is Scampi & chips.

Hope everyone is well and keeping ok.

    Hugs to all.

  • Morning all, dark and wet here too :( I don't mind the winter when we have a chink of sun occasionally but the unrelenting grey and gloom is very depressing.

Had a day out in London yesterday although I didn't particularly want to go out and spend money that I haven't got. I have a Railcard so got a cheap day ticket and I also have an Oyster card so travel wasn't that bad, a total of £10.75 for the train and then two tube rides. However the tubes were horrible, got stuck in a tunnel for ages with my nose pressed up against someone's armpit in the sweaty heat. Lovely. Met up with a friend for lunch and then just wandered about for a while before trying to get home, the journey back was even worse and reminded me once again why I don't want to work in London again.

Just had a phone call from our gas provider saying our last meter reading was probably wrong and could I let them have the current one. Sloshed out to the side of the house and stood in my nightie in the drizzle only to be told that they would now be sending us a revised bill, I bet it won't be good news  . It did occur to me to say of course our summer reading would be lower than the winter one, but thought that may be too obvious:rolleyes: ?

Today is washing day, hooray, all the towels and mats etc so I'm afraid I have to use the tumble drier, which I think is playing up as well so it may take all day to get everything dry.

Hugs to those feeling ill and poorly <<hug>> and have a good day all.

    Morning,

No word from the agency yet, so must assume I am still working. Might just ring them to check. Will go and have a shower in a minute.

 OMG. Just checked my bank account and I have almost £500 of wages for last week!! How did I earn that much, I was hardly there??? I am so pleased with that, it means that I will hardly be going into my OD at all to pay the rent now. Now I just need those kind of wages every week :)

Just tried to pay the electic bill but got half way through the phone call and remembered OH has my card

Spent all of last night pouring over the kitchen thread :). I have convinced OH to do our kitchen sooner than later :j.

I have also been reading The Cottage Smallholder blog - it is so inspiring

So, all in all, a good day.

Hope you all have a good one

  • Morning all,

Internet connection has been a bit patchy here for days - but it finally seems to be sorted. Good news yesterday - I got the part time job that I had applied for - 10hrs a week bookkeeping for a church charity. Have to admit the money will probably go to soaking up some of the rises in costs - it cost nearly £50 to fill my car with diesel yesterday:eek: I start on 4 Feb so I have a couple of weeks to get sorted out.

Had a good day in the charity shop yesterday - a brand new blouse with the labels on for work for £3.99, a wooden marble labyrinth for the kids for £1.49 and an ELC squirty dragon in its box for my niece and nephew for £1.99.

Our new bathroom was delivered today - we only bought it at the beg of December  - so the plumber is coming to fix a date for installation. We're getting rid of the bath and having a walk in shower instead - we have what is probably one of the smallest bathrooms in the world - but we managed to get rid of the airing cupboard when we changed to gas CH, which doubled the floor space available:D

HM bacon quiche tonight (need to use up some tail ends of cheese as well), probably with HM spicy wedges and corn. The kids have sausage sandwiches for lunch - I was volunteering yesterday and they gave me the sausages that were going to be thrown away for the dog - 4 got used for the kids :rotfl: - they were freshly cooked but can't be kept for sale.

Off to buy a heated towel rail in the sale - we have no heating in the bathroom ATM as the radiator has gone but not yet replaced - it does get a bit nippy in there.

Hugs to all who need them - Furrypig - what anice thing to do for your friend.

    Have a good day

    :hello: Morning!

It's my ds's 30th birthday today! I am feeling quite ancient! The family are descending on me tonight and we are off for a celebratory meal out, so no need to cook! :j

I have made up all the beds, just got to get some extra milk in and the makings of a cooked breakfast to spoil them with tomorrow.

It is wet and yukky outside and I have yet to take puppy out for her walk! Will recover from that and then it is off to work for me, it really is as if I haven't been away, still tiring though! thank goodness for the slow cooker otherwise we wouldn't eat!

Furrypig - that was a wonderful thing to do for your friend!

    Mrs Mix and PP (((hugs)))

Penpen - (((hugs))) thank goodness your oh was ok but what a worrying time for you!

    Happy belated birthday to Bemuzzled!

furrypig :kisses3: You're such a sweety to do that.

Well I'm shattered tonight. Too much gas bagging and shopping for me today. The wine I've just had has just made it worse. I had a lovely day with my sister. I caught the right buses & got off the right stations & had nice bus drivers. :D All was right in my little world.

Going into town tomorrow with DH. Goodness me twice in one week. Nothing too exciting. Just a few more supplies etc. Hope you have a great day and those that are ill etc get better soon. Byeeeeeeeeeeee

P.S. Haribo - I liked your first avatar the best. It was you. ;)

Hi everyone, and good morning!

The lab was hard work yesterday, a lot of the undergrads we had in are new so obviously spent more time setting up that normal. We were out half an hour later than normal and I still had to some back to my section and do some work. Got home a 9.30 pm. OH had cleaned the entire flat and made dinner, which was lovely of him - we have a house inspection tommorrow, which I had totally forgotten about, so I'm glad he tidied round a little bit. Not got that much to do at work today, just paperwork and data analysis, so quite pleased as I'm quite tired.

scuzz and tattycath, hope you both feel better
    furrypig - you are lovely!

have a good day everyone, cel x

  • Hello to everyone,
haven't been on in a week - hardly possible since get up at 6 in the morning, do an hour of freelance work, go to work at 7:45 back at 6:15, daugther bath and bed, dinner and then translation from 07:30 till midnight!
But only 2 more weeks in the day job and then I am a work from home mum!

I might also start writing a marketing blog for small businesses - about how to do marketing with little or no money. I have over 13 years experience in that area - so maybe I have something to say :) I enjoy so much writing my food, living and general musing blog that I might just do another one.

Very tired today - DD woke up at 3 (for no apparent reason) and was up until 5....

    Anyways, better do some work.
