OS Friday 18th January 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning All

Just searching the Boots 75% off thread. (Amie - thanks) I will then have to talk nice to my neighbours to say it is coming!

Off for a Pedicure and Manicure this morning, the 25€ special I treat myself too in November, feet well in need by now. Opps! have a bit of a snifle this morning. Hope it doesn't develop into anything else DH is dead!

Hope everyone is OK (((hugs))) to all.

    Good morning all!
Just popping in to say hi, am getting ready for work but thought I'd check Boots... looks like Aimees been there ahead of us, hehe!
Have been very tired this week but we are doing OK on our grocery challenge, just trying to figure out what to do with a food order-need to decide today if it's gonna be delivered on Sunday! Doing it thru mysupermarket, that way I get my Nectar poitns and iPoints.
Also sometime today I will need to compile a list of the jobs we need to do this weekend-banking, ordering, cooking, cleaning, sorting....!
Hope you have a great Friday! TGIF!!! x

Morning donny-gal and all that follow,
I discovered a few minutes ago that the dw wasn`t switched on last night so i am now waiting for it to finish then i can have a cuppa in a nice clean cup.
The wm didn`t go on last night as it wasn`t needed so just the slow cooker bubbling away to sort out later, it smells gorgeous.
Someone gave me a recipe for chicken & chorizo so thats what smells so good at the moment.
Plenty to do today so i`m off to get started.
    Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all. Hi DONNY - you must have gone to get the sticky!

Well, I hope everyone is well today but (((hugs))) to those who aren't.

I think I have finally managed to convince DH that we can make lots of savings this year and, hopefully, make a bit of extra money, as well. Even small things count; he takes my car to work on days when don't need it and, at the moment he's working about 45 miles away, so it saves around £3 a day on fuel! I really should do a bit more driving in his 4x4 but I find it so big and heavy and it would be wasteful, anyway, just to poodle up to the local village in it. Anyway, we have been writing down exactly how much we need to live on (yikes, this is an expensive country and going up all the time) and ways in which we can - and will - cut down, even more than I did last year. It feels like quite a challenge and it will help now that DH is completely on board with it. We're not really extravagant; I have to nag him to buy himself any new clothes (he has already got the charity shop bug!) but, apart from that, we have plenty of 'stuff' already. He is also going to get more involved in eBaying stuff. He's not confident on the computer so I can carry on doing the listing but he could help more with the packaging and posting.

Anyway, I've waffled. Last night's beef stew was delicious; I put more Marmite in it than usual and it really livened it up. We have enough left over for dinner tomorrow night, as well. Tonight's dinner is shepherd's pie, and baked beans, of course.

Well, off to put the BM on, have a shower then clean the bathroom, have a quick tidy up and go and do my minimal food shop. I have meal-planned for next week and will stick to my list and not be tempted by anything I don't need.

    See you all later.

Morning all - not much to report. I'm working long hours this week, not getting enough sleep, and can't wait for the weekend when I can play catch-up with everything.

I'm off to work soon, I wonder what today will bring. It's certainly keeping me fit, running from one department to another, lending a hand where I can.
Hubby slept well after playing with DGS yesterday evening, lol.
DD is always grateful to hubby, even though he spoils DGS, as he's not his Grandpa, but behaves as though he is.
I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday
    Hugs Hester

Good Morning Everyone! Up in good time to walk the dogs this morning, so am feeling virtuous right now! DH working today and if dogs not walked, well lets say he has to clear up the bathroom floor.... His work is very intermittent this time of year. Felt really down yesterday, so thanks to late posters for cheering me up! Busy w/e ahead as I want to visit Mum on Sunday and that takes the whole day, with about 8 -9 hours driving in total.
Also need to look at what's in my fridge, freezer and larder as I'm sure there's loads to use up - I feel a few unusual food combinations coming on!
Hope everyone has a good day today.

    Good morning all!

I too went and had a look at Boots but couldn't find enough things to get free delivery so decided against it!! (probably more money saving!)

Work today, I'm a nurse and went to see someone in hospital yesterday and felt very sad as her family are unable to visit her (another sad story) and she was crying and fed up and didn't really have many of her own belongings. After offering to try and help she said she would like me to find her a t shirt. I have made her up a little goodie bag with 2 tops (1 new one ...from a sale of course!) hope it fits, some freebie toiletries and some choccie bits left over from Christmas. I kept thinking of her all evening and hope it makes her smile!

Anyway, otherwise my day is work, school runs and an easy supper prob jacket spuds as it's Friday and nearly the weekend...yeah!

    Have good days everyone xxx

    Morning

    Hugs to Mrs Mix,

Well, the rain is bouncing off the road again today, even the dog doesn't like going out in this. Just heard that we are expecting a months rain in a week

Aldi shop today, but need to go into Asda for a free-range chicken as I have signed Hugh Fearnely's pledge :D

Don't forget to get the tissues out for Corrie tonight :o

Have a good day everyone x
