hello
if youre referring to me being the new account...yes i am a new account signed up in the past week..and if you look i have posted on other non ranting pages so if youre implying that i am one and the same as the other im sorry but youre mistaken.
i wasnt trying to get anyones back up just trying to put a point across that the person defending grolier who'd worked there for 6 years wasnt to blame she was just giving her opinion as somone who had worked there.0 -

Dont worry about what other people say to you, the person who is trying to cause trouble with you (unnecessarily), was being nasty to me on a post I made. Just ignore them.
We are all here to have a bit of banter and give advice and we shouldnt expect this sort of thing.0 -
I too used to work for grolier in 2002-2003 made some very good friends there and miss it a lot.
there are alot of people who lost there jobs many who started there when it first opened.
grolier did have a customer service number it was a norwich number and all you had to do to return was to call them and ask for a returns label..they never hid the number and anytime you had a sales call from them you could request it and it was given out (i know as i did this on occasion), maybe they didnt always get it right but in all fairness it was a company that had alot of business..and turnaround so just as many companies do sometimes it doesnt always go out right but to attack the person verbally who was defending them who from personal experience of knowing how the company works due to being and employee is fairly unfair and unjust..she/he are not the company and did not control the workings of the company!
and from the sounds of it was probably someone who lost their job at the begining of the year and ended up in the awful situation of having no job...no matter what the company has done that doesnt give people the right to make personal or nasty comments to an employee or in this case a ex employee

Unfortunately my opinions are my own, so I'm obviously horrible.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0 -
I worked for Grolier for over 6 years, i wasnt going to admit it, i wonder why??? Anyways, I wanted to remain impartial and I also was a customer when my children were little.
I was one of those who lost their jobs in February and only just got work this past 2 months, i have been a member here for many months, and I was appalled by the treatment i and former collegues received from the members here.
I was a member of customer services and I found Grolier to be a great company to work for, yes they had theor troubles and yes they were featured on Watchdog and yes they had a lot of work to do to make their company a good one, in my opinion we pulled out all the stops to make it a good one and we we bloody did.
I made many friends there and we were a great team.
When you are signing up for something read the T&C read all the blurb, and dont sign for somthing on the net unless you are sure that you know what you are getting into, its simple common sense and im sure that all of you are capable of that.
It irks me when people of obvious intellegence do not make sure of what they are signing up to.
When you know what you are doing it is very simple.
Also when the company went into a 90 consultation period our parent company was looking for a buyer, when Disney were consulted they decided that for the benefit of their business they withdrew the licence, this was not the reason Grolier closed, it was a factor but not the reason, they didnt go "bust" they were merely put to sleep.
The company has now closed and ceased trading in December 2008.
I was upset that certain members chose to be rude and unwelcoming of those that had an opinion different to that of their own and made this thread one that bashed other new members.
I wont voice my opinion again on this thread, but I wanted to right a couple of wrongs in this thread and I agreed with Kalla that we were a great team and I made many good friends at Grolier some of which i miss very much.
Anyways, thats me done!0 -
I am far less sympathetic to those who are involved with scamming others, whether they are Directors or Secretaries, or that they (still have) friends that worked there with them or not.
I liken it to a Bank robber, where the criminal has a "getaway driver", or even someone who can give them a false alibi, in a Court, such a person is labelled as "aiding and abetting" in a crime.
The same applies to Mobile Phone Scam's or companies that mislead customers or sell fake or faulty products, However BIG a company is, every person working there are all "cogs in the wheel" that keeps the machine turning over.
I would be more sympathetic to those victims, who have lost out than those who are responsible for their downfall, no matter how many "friends" they claim to have lost as a direct result.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

this company is a joke i was 17 when i signed up for it and had no money at all when i had my son. i got the leaflets in my bounty pack and thought it was free. after 2 and a half years i am still paying it off. i was sure i paid them off and after many months of bliss they are demanding more money!
its sick they take advantage of you when you want to buy your children something nice. isn't it convenient that you can only write letters to them so they can choose to ignore you?0 -

if you had no money why apply and you broke the law at 17 applying for something you werent allowed to do because you would have ticked the box stating you were over 18, thats the only way you could have obtained an account!
btw you could have called them on their careline number which was avaialble through the directory enquiries on their website and all their paperwork, including your welcome to Grolier booklet.
There were several ways to contact them on their website, by email, or by post, and by telephone, i know, i worked on their careline.
theres no excuse and i think that you have just jumped on this grolier bashing bandwagon!0
