Grolier hassle
Comments
-
I have no problems stating that i worked for Grolier for over 6 years!!
To get things right on this thread i will state that
1) The company was owned by Scolastic
2) The company (UK, America and Canada)was put up for sale by Scolastic in 2007
3) In September 2008 we were (uk) told that we were in a 90 day consiltation period, as at that point they were unable to find a buyer, and if this stayed the same they would regretably have to close the buisness.
4) During this time Disney (understandablly) took the contract away ( great buisness sense on their part)
5) On the 31st of December 2008 nearly 100 people lost there job
6) A wind down team were kept on to ensure some form of customer service
And now Groiler is no more
WE WERE A FAMILY, I MADE SOME FANTASTIC FRIENDS AND WE ALL MISS WORKING WITH EACH OTHER!!
This was well publicised in the local press.
I guess the majority of people that posted on this thread are happy with this news.
What i will say is ALWAYS read the T&C of anything you sign up for
ALWAYS tick the box to say DO NOT CONTACT ME if you dont want to hear from a company again. If you had done this in the first place you would have had nothing to moan about!!!!0 -

I too used to work for grolier in 2002-2003 made some very good friends there and miss it a lot.
there are alot of people who lost there jobs many who started there when it first opened.
grolier did have a customer service number it was a norwich number and all you had to do to return was to call them and ask for a returns label..they never hid the number and anytime you had a sales call from them you could request it and it was given out (i know as i did this on occasion), maybe they didnt always get it right but in all fairness it was a company that had alot of business..and turnaround so just as many companies do sometimes it doesnt always go out right but to attack the person verbally who was defending them who from personal experience of knowing how the company works due to being and employee is fairly unfair and unjust..she/he are not the company and did not control the workings of the company!
and from the sounds of it was probably someone who lost their job at the begining of the year and ended up in the awful situation of having no job...no matter what the company has done that doesnt give people the right to make personal or nasty comments to an employee or in this case a ex employee0 -
awful lot of people with new accounts who write in an awfully similar way.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0
